Astounded to read the madness and desperation of a bird smuggler who attempted to smuggle 35 live finches into America from Guyana. The poor birds endured a 5 hour flight, stuffed in hair curlers and taped to the man’s ankles.
The man was offered $3,000 to smuggle them in for a bird singing contest. Winning birds can be bought for up to $10,000 at these competitions.
If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison.
You think the potential prison sentence alone would be a good enough deterrent, but sadly not.
What do you think it would take to stop this madness? A higher sentence? Would anything deter them?
