Biscuit Alternatives?

Ask a Question

I'm looking for alternatives to biscuits to have with tea (to cut down on sugar).

Does anyone have any ideas?

You can gets some kind of cake biscuit things called Go Ahead, a lot of dieters eat them as they are low fat low cal but they do taste nice and you feel like you've had something.

Go ahead are quite high in sugar so I wouldn't advise that. Low calories wise, they are a good choice

Have you tried "free from" buscuits? Thought you can get ones that have less sugar but they tend to be just digestives and stuff. I get ones from Weight Watchers, which are nice. You can buy online.

CaroleBallard Thank you for the suggestion. I will have a look in the "free from" section.

Rice cakes, i have them with peanut butter. You could make your own biscuits if you look for a low sugar version.

Thanks KirstyW. You reminded me of some low sugar oat and raisin biscuits I once made - now I just need to find the recipe (or just get some rice cakes ๐Ÿ™‚).

Great idea Mango4. My husband just bought a new toaster with a "crumpet setting" (didn't even know you could get that ๐Ÿ™‚).

When I fancy a sweet treat I have a slice of wholemeal toast with sliced banana on it & a tiny bit honey squirted on top.

Those sugar free Maria ones from Home Bargains are ok. They go a bit rubbery if they've not been eaten shortly after opening the pack though.

Rice cakes, everytime!. I really love 'Kallo' rice cake to satisfy a sweet tooth without the loaded sugar - Blueberry & Vanilla, Apple & Cinnamon. Snack A Jacks also have some good options Caramel, Chocolate Chip. I've even moved to the dark side and now really enjoy the Marmite rice cakes with a cuppa. ๐Ÿ˜†

As a couple of people have mentioned, rice cakes!!

You can have them sweet, but I prefer the salt and vinegar ones as an alternative for crisps ๐Ÿ™‚ probably best not to put a salt and vinegar one in your tea though lol!

I haven't tried them yet, but Maryland do sugar free Chocolate Chip Cookies. Currently on offer for ยฃ1 in Tesco - https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/303009723

Or, you could try no added sugar chocolate bars ๐Ÿซ

I highly recommend oats and mushed banana cookies with no sugar or sweetener added ๐Ÿค— There is many varieties and are super easy to make. Check bellow for something like that:
