Black Friday
Money Saving
Black Friday should be the 26th November
What’s on everyone list this year. It’s my favourite week of shopping with stores offering daily deals up until the day.
I do most my Xmas shopping this week if not completely finish it.
The deal sites have had some cracking deals even glitches.
Tip if not had a free prime trial worth getting that week.
I love to look and often buy many things I didn’t even no I needed till I see them
I’m a sucker for a bargain
Aenurse1 hi 🖐 I just joined a few wks back and I already have a ton of things I didnt realise I needed nothing too expensive so my 3 teenagers who now just want cash but still like their stockings of socks, body sets and gadgets are all sorted. Earliest Ive ever been ready for Christmas
Oh people! Remember, a bargain/deal is only a bargain/deal if it is something you need. If you didn't need it in the first place you are spending money you would not have otherwise spent so not a deal at all lol.
I will be looking for bargains. Haven’t a list for gifts, so will just see what comes up. Like you Ann1984, I like to get most of my Christmas shopping finished that week.
I will be looking for Christmas presents for my son. I'm planning to make a list of things I would like for him and if I can get them cheaper then I will be delighted. Although I have saved up my vouchers for his presents so will only be looking on certain websites.
MrsCraig wow that’s gone quick I recommend for that age education toys like leapfrog that learns sounds letters etc. These can be picked up very cheaply second hand and quarter of full price. This item will cover everything needed for starting school and cheapest it’s been since released but could probably grab for 20 pounds of fb or eBay
Ann1984 it has gone so fast. He already has a few educational toys, which he loves and that was the sort of thing I was thinking about getting him. I've seen those desks before and have been tempted, it's just a case of where to put it. I will have a look on fb to see if there are any locally.
MrsCraig in my opinion you can’t go wrong with Lego. It will last him for years.
Grannyclock I agree Lego is good but only the duplo ones at his age due to small parts.
Grannyclock Ann1984 he has some duplo Lego which he absolutely loves, will definitely have a look at some new sets for him.
I feel this year could be a bit disappointing due to many items being in shorter supply due to the pandemic logistics issues. I guess it will depend on the item though. I've heard that the older style Nintendo Switch could get a good reduction as the newer OLED model replaces it. I'm not really into the Switch myself but I guess there is a chance of a price around £200-230 for the older model and to be honest if you use it mainly in the dock then who cares about OLED anyway.
BonzoBanana yep that’s one item we holding out for am thinking in between 220 to 235.
Ann1984 I reckon you will get that price and if buying on Amazon also perhaps any warehouse stock of returns/slight scuffs etc will have further reductions. I remember when the PS4 pros were reduced in price the Warehouse stock also went down in price for those.
BonzoBanana yeah looking back on the years the warehouses as 30 percent off and eBay the 15 or 20 percent codes
Ann1984 It was £228 during last weeks 20% off (Shopto If I remember ) . £180 -£190 I reckon by Xmas (if the new models are in good supply ?) .
Golfforall aw I missed that one cheapest I found was 235 so price your estimated would be fab as needing 2
Ann1984 I think that will totally depend on whether there is plenty of stock of the new model around ? If not I suspect the old model will hold its price (not my field really , games consoles )
Ann1984 I remember when they first came out Nintendo stated they would be around £200 and one retailer took pre-orders at that price and honoured them. Then of course Nintendo realised there was a lot more interest in their console than they first thought and upped the price considerably. There are effectively four Switch models, the new OLED version, the lite and two of the original design, one has an older technology motherboard that needs more power and a newer model that has much longer battery life. I seem to remember when the improved normal Switch came out the more power hungry model was available for up to about a £50 reduction and again if you use the console mainly in the dock who cares.
The Switch isn't a very powerful console so there are now emulators that run Switch games at full speed on PC's, in fact some run the games at 4k at 60fps. From memory there is Yuzu and Ryujinx, they might take some time to setup though.
Just found a video comparing the new Metroid game on both emulators.
BonzoBanana Thanks for the info -never looked into them -but if a deal came up (and it would have to be a deal !! ) I might be persuaded to buy one to help while away the winter months when golf is not an option !
So members ,be aware , post rubbish deals and (having researched myself) I will be heaping criticism upon your non deals . Post a good deal ? I might even buy one and will give credit to the poster .
I will have a look and hopefully it will be better than the year when 1 guy turned up at currys
I’m hoping to get a 2021 9th generation IPad for my grandsons Christmas a bit cheaper. It’s currently £319 on Amazon, John Lewis and Apple so if anyone spots one a bit cheaper I would be delighted if you tag me
I loved the first Black Fridays, not so impressed of late, would like to see cut price prime make an appearance.
Must agree . Last few it seemed only the Amazon /Google smart devices were heavily discounted - As they are several times a year . Then Amazon marketplace "Chinese Tat" is masqueraded as Black Friday Deals !
See what you would like , make a note of the prices . That way you will know a REAL saving when you see it and not be one of the numerous "sheep" who , every year, believe that any "Deal" with Black Friday in the title is indeed a deal ! Trust me most are not deals .
Golfforall but if members know how to use camel camel then they would know if a deal. I can’t fault things I needed on Black Friday with clothes needed for kids and toys for little one. Also the PS4 yearly subscription being half price so hopefully get that again too
Ann1984 Trouble is it only really works with mainstream , branded items . It certainly doesn't work with the marketplace "Chinese Tat" we see daily on here . Although identical there must be 20 or 30 ("brands" ) of muscle massagers , shavers , hair clippers , resistance band sets etc . The camels do not work on such things , showing only previous prices for that particular (made up ) brand , not the multiple absolutely identical items sold with other brand stamps .
Ann1984 A good time to buy Amazon tech but not the best time to get the best bargains. I like clearance bargains, black Friday to me is a time for people that do not normal get deals. The type of buyer that get 20 percent off new season styles and think they did well. I like camel, but using vouchers codes to drive sales, make it more like the highest price people could have paid. I do try to find a bargain at this time but it is like trying to find a bargain before Christmas.
Howmuch I think we all know that "amazon marketplace " Chinese Tat voucher codes are just a con . Look at the final price ! Forget the 80% off or whatever , just check against identical items !! And do not for a second believe the totally made up "original selling price " Look around for yourself at identical items on Amazon or EBay .
Simple - spend 30 seconds to check - and save yourself £s !
I've never shopped on black Friday before. Never felt the need to , and spread the shopping over the year. But as the kids get older and want more expensive gives. I'm sure I will.
As always , buyer beware ! There are very few "great deals " and zillions of non deals . Even the seemingly good deals on tech are immediately price matched by Currys , Argos , John Lewis etc and will probably be the same price several times before Xmas .
Does anyone know if the range do any decent Black Friday offers? I’m after some furniture from there… I’m also on the lookout for a new bed, please tag me if you see or know of anything
I have never shopped on Black Friday as I do think a lot of the stuff is old stock that needs to be sold.
