Blood Donation
Ask a Question
Is anyone going to volunteer blood donation over the next few weeks?
I would not feel safe at the moment..
I will be doing so in a couple of weeks. It's a little risky, but at the same I will be helping to save lives. Though if I had any covid symptoms, then I would cancel my appointment.
I usually take my own blood , store it until there's a gallon then auction it on E-bay , you'd be surprised how much you can get ..
I wish i could give blood but anytime I've had my bloods taken they've had to use a butterfly needle (one used on babies) as my viens are so bad to get at (believe me they've tried with regular needles) but I've been told they just dont have the time allocated to fiddle about with tiny needles and no show veins. I have been to a blood donation appointment and they have tried but after 20 mins of trying they couldnt get in a vein. Im O rhesus negative too so really wish i could.
I gave blood last year for the first time, I haven't donated this year due to the pandemic. But hopefully next year I will start again.
Doubt they could get enough out of me. Nurses always have terrible trouble not sure I have veins
HollyDolly22 I used to be the same, absolutely terrified of needles, but my last 2 pregnancies i had to have bloods taken every 2 weeks due to me being severely anaemic and i had flu jab, whooping cough jab & Anti D jab with my pregnacies so I got used to it. Needles dont bother me now aslong as they're quick
I had my bloods done in hospital last week so it wouldn't bother me atm but they wont take my blood as a donation anyway as im on too many meds
I used to give blood, but unfortunately the last time I went they couldn't find a vein, so told not to come back.
But if I was able to, I would as I think it's important and I think they would have safeguards in place, taking temperatures etc
Oh I feel guilty because my husband has been a blood donor for years and at the beginning of Covid I told him I didn’t want him travelling and spending time in the hospital. The blood donor office keep ringing.
