Do You Have Board Games?
Ask a Question
We have a few that we enjoy playing as a family at Christmas. Thinking of getting some more. A good idea for power cuts or ways to play without using electricity. Which ones are your favourite?
We love board games and will often play them on a Sunday especially during the winter. We enjoy frustration and Uno as easy games that everybody can play. Last year we bought Spin the wheel which is fun to play and some of the questions aren't too hard to answer.
Swimmer94 I absolutely love frustration. It's an old family favourite. I have very fond memories playing it with my parents. My dad always cheats though and still does lol
I used to love monopoly & scrabble but it’s been ages since I’ve played a board game - guess it’s because we end up watching things or playing online games instead. At Christmas, we usually play mahjong - something to try if you’ve not done so previously, but you will need 4 players
hspexy We stopped playing for years and then started again a few years ago. I have played that before and there are 4 of us so will definitely look at it
We have always had board games and play them throughout the year. Probably the family favourite is Monopoly. My own personal favourite is Game of life and Cluedo. My childhood favourite one were haunted house and mouse trap. These were more interactive for me as a child.
eyeballkerry Monopoly is my partners favourite. He has at least 3 different versions of it lol. I prefer things like outstrip to be honest lol
DanielleMcK1992 We have played different versions over the years. Our had the Manchester United version and we had the millionaire version but much prefer the original. I have had mine since the 1970s and it is in a bit of state, mainly the box which has been repaired many times. But every thing is still intact inside.
eyeballkerry I think the 1970s one would be the best one as its got history to it
Sunday afternoons and evenings are often set aside for board games when my family comes for a Sunday roast.
Our favourite has to be Trivial Pursuit, but we also play Uno or card games with a normal deck of cards. I think that everyone's favourite card game is Go Fish as it's a simple game for everyone and doesn't last too long.
AlysonC Oh I love trivial pursuit, so does the rest of my family, it really makes you think. We also love card games, I prefer patience but everyone else seems to love rummy
Leannexxx I have never really played domino's I'll have to put it on my list to try
Monopoly is my favourite. I started playing it when I was younger and I still enjoy a game now. I prefer the original monopoly though. There's so many different types out there now.
nev23 honestly my mum and I don't like it but my partner and my dad love it so it always causes an argument if we're going to play it or not lol
Yes. We need to get them out now the nights are getting darker earlier. We do play them. Usually on a Saturday night with strictly on tv. We've just moved so when settled will dig them out again and play them. It's a bit of fun. Usually play them Christmas day as well. We take some round to our family get together on boxing day as well.
I keep a few board games for grandkids. My daughter, son in law and 9yr old granddaughter have games evening every Saturday night. They sometimes try to play games that will help my granddaughter with school work. They’ll play scrabble to help with her spelling, picture and word match games, even snakes and ladders to help her count when she was younger. They also play games for fun and she loves draughts, pluto, mousetrap, uno, monopoly etc. They have pizza and games nite and all sit on floor eating and playing. My granddaughter really looks forward to Saturday night for this
Can't say my family are the types to play boardgames. I've tried over the years, namely at Christmas, to get some fun family activities going and it never works and no one wants to play. I've given up now.
I always keep a few board games handy as my nephew loves to play them Monopoly, frustration, chess, and drafts as well as dominoes and playing cards
I guess the classic is always Monopoly but it does cause arguments and takes an absolute age to finish. I have gotten in to playing Cluedo which I never used to like as a child but now I am a fan.
We got the traitors board game to play last year but it was a little bit overcomplicated so it only got played once, might have to bring it back out this year.
I always used to dislike Scrabble as well, it felt too much like school work, but now I do enjoy it.
I also like to go to board game cafes.
Not any longer lol as I would be playing against myself. Used to have a fair few as a family years ago but have given them all away now as I have no use for them now. However, sometimes when I visit sons they may get out a board game at Christmas or other celebration times.
I grew up playing board games right up until my twenties.I used to like cluedo, haunted house, trivial pursuit, monopoly.I had. game called chart busters when I was in my teens.I thought I was a superstar in the making lol.I also played buckaroo and frustration.Happy days lol No mobile phones then.
We play snakes and laders with the Grandchildren, my partner and I enjoy a game of scrabble over the weekend.
I don’t think I’ve ever played any except maybe back in high school days lol I think
they can make great ideas for gifts
for Christmas
to play with the family members maybe for birthdays
too or would that not look good?
We would play board games most Sundays when the kids were small. My children are now parents themselves but their children are too young at the moment.
