Body Modifications - the New Trend?

Ask a Question

Image

I remember when I got my ear pierced. And then pierced again. And I intended to get them pierced a third time but I put it off, and now many years have passed, and I can’t be bothered

My friends pressed forth and got other parts pierced - eyebrows, tongues, belly buttons...and some got tattoos...but no one I know has taken the next step, which requires surgery

Have you? And would you?

Hi hspexy this is so ugly what ever next. How do they get there ears to look like that. I do not think it looks cool at all. They could get a lot of trouble with there years later on in life. I have my ears pierced once. And I have no body art. This would put me right of men. 🦄🦄

Lol my first reaction was the same, that’s it’s just too far. I’ve no problem with taking control of your body and expressing yourself the way you want, but I can only imagine the possible hearing problems the person may have by removing that part of the ear, as I assume sound bounces off it to go down the ear canal? I just hope that the doctor who performed this informed the patient of the possible problems they may have in the future

hspexy and all for fashion. But fashion dos go out of date. Just look how the people had body art and now wish they did not have done in the first place. The Same thing is going to happened with the ears. And there no going back. I can't get my head around that a doctor went head and did it. They must have got payed a lot of money to do it. 🦉🦉

nicolajaynehend yes it wouldn’t be cheap. Definitely not a common thing to have done, so my guess is that it’s very expensive. Although there is a lot of places in other parts of the world where you can have stuff done cheaply, but at a risk, of course

Looking at the photos that you've posted, I'd say they were a couple of mugs!!

I know, it wouldn’t have been cheap to get this done, and I’m no medical professional but I’m sure that part of the ear that has been taken out has some use. Oh dear

I used to have tongue pierced and once I took it out for a week and the hole was gone after and did not bother to do it again.

Yes most piercings will close up quickly, and I think the tongue heals the quickest. A friend at work has had hers done twice because she took out the stud the 1st time and couldn’t put it back in properly, so had to visit the parlour again. She loves it

hspexy had mine pierced as a teen and took it out in my late teens and it's still not closed up yet more then 10 years later!!

MumOfThree wow that’s amazing! most holes close up quite quickly. At least that saves you a trip to get it redone

I have my both ears pierced twice, my tragus, tongue, belly button twice (normal place and just below) And used to have my eyebrow pierced about 15 years ago.. I would never go for any kind of full modification though.. I was considering a microdermal but decided against it in the end.

I can imagine that generally people think piercings are cool, but these kind of modifications will still shock most. I had a friend in uni who had loads and loads of tattoos but all quite hidden - she said that she still wanted a traditional wedding one day, so all the tattoos were in places that will not be seen when she’s fitted into the wedding dress. I guess she was thinking long term

I personally love tattoos (except the face/neck area) and I have 9 smallish ones myself. Some that can be easily covered, others not as easy (both wrists) unless I'm wearing long sleeves lol. I also like traditional piercings, ears etc.. when it comes to fully removing part of an ear or something then no, no, noooo 😂 that's wayyy too far lol.

Over the years mainly during my colourful younger years I’ve had various body parts pierced 😉 😉 and enjoyed the rebellious status that came with it it but this new trend really doesn’t appeal at all. It’s each to their own I know but eeewwww these modifications look painful.

Looks painful and dangerous - what if it got caught? Everyone can do what they like to their own body's but this isn't one I would encourage!
