Boiling Eggs in a Kettle?
Ask a Question
Has anyone ever tried this? I use the microwave to poach eggs, but never thought of using the kettle to make boiled eggs - just curious to see what f it works well
I use to do this years ago before it became a hack needs to be room temp eggs and cold water to help prevent them cracking worked great for me only ever had one crack I use to under do them and leave them an extra minute in the hot water - wouldnt use a new kettle in case they crack
Whaaaaaat?? This is revolutionary but i dont really fancy eggy coffee i‘ve only recently discovered you can cook scrambled eggs in a microwave
hahha in my defence can I just say that we camp a lot so it was a good way of cooking saving space and we used an older travel kettle just for this as it was going spare- so really I was saving energy space and recycling. I love a quick fix but eggy coffee would probably give me morning rage!
Also sarahgreen15 prepare to have your mind blown - I have made yoghurt in a thermos and shortbread in a microwave! total success - maybe I should write a book hahhaha
I heard people do this in hotels....I never did it....not sure I want to put eggs in my kettle and cross infect it with some bacteria.
Yes I’d rather have a separate kettle for it, and only if I wanted to start eating a lot of boiled eggs on a regular basis. I didn’t know people did this in hotels lol
Lol I’ve never done it myself, but I did a search on google and most methods are pretty much similar to this one
no never tried this but would be willing to give it a go, i use the pan way, then cool down with cold water, love a boiled egg salad.
I'm not sure I would want to put what has come from 'you know where' in my kettle. I can well believe that people do it in hotels together with other stuff but then the knicker-boiling-in the-kettle is a whole new topic........ never used a hotel kettle since I learned this.
Yuck!!! Omg that’s completely gross! Definitely not going to be drinking from a hotel kettle anytime soon...need time to forget this! Lol
People use kettles to boil water whether it's clean it not. Guess you could try it and see how the egg turns out.
I wouldn't do it or use the microwave to fry one up.
I wouldn't try this unless I was planning to buy a new kettle. It's easy enough to boil an egg in a saucepan
My granny used the water from the boiled eggs pan as plant feed, this suggests that there is migration of minerals from the egg shells. Don't want that in my kettle as well as the limescale from our water.
