Bolton under Local Lockdown!
In the News
The Government is advising against all but essential travel in and out of Bolton as data shows the number of Covid-19 hospital admissions has risen to 43.
According to the guidance, journeys to and from areas affected by the Indian variant throughout the UK should be avoided, 'unless essential'.
Exemptions include work - if you cannot work from home - and education.
The information was published at Gov.uk on Friday of last week at 5.26pm, but does not appear to have been accompanied by an official announcement.
Why is the government not making an official announcement?
The guidance is so vague which will not prevent the spread of this virus!
That seems very strange, neither one thing or the other, as always with this lot is it incompetence or a wish to kill us off!
Not really you need to look beyond the UK things in Czech republic and Slovakia are pretty bad the police are battering the crap out of people and it is becoming quite nasty - funny how your BBC and Channel4 news are so leftist and show you nothing of what is happening in europe - there are riots in Paris at this very moment people are talking of an internal civil war in France and Sweden's police force is collapsing they cannot maintain law and order anymore in areas like Malmo and the stuff going on in India is truly shocking 1000's of dead bodies floating down the ganges and not a single peep from your lovely BBC - you need to seek out the proper news and see what is really happening you are all brainwashed by the BBC and CH4 etc - its like living in a fishtank in the uk you see nothing of what is actually happening!
It isnt just Bolton but Blackburn, Kirklees, Bedford, Burnley, Leicester, Hounslow and North Tyneside also as per https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-57232728. Here we go again !!
Perhaps one reason no special announcement was made regarding Bolton being in lockdown is that Bolton is in England and all of England is in lockdown but we might leave lockdown on 21st June.
(just because some restrictions have been eased doesn't mean we're out of lockdown).
To have announced that Bolton (and some other places) had been placed in local lockdown might have made some think that all other places in England were now out of lockdown.
I think the government do not want to be seen to be taking backward steps. It would impact on morale and be very divisive. That said, I think there will be a return of the tier system in an effort to manage this variant and the affected areas could face a total shut down again.
I think they are trying to get people to make their own decisions based on risk. We live near Bedford and have family there, but we would probably not go and see them at the moment after this advice.
Never heard about this until last night. I believe it's only a guidance tho & not a law (for now). Those who are fully vaccinated in these areas should be allowed to move freely tho.
Government has clarified that there is no local lockdown in these areas & people are just being given guidance to minimise travel.
Fully vaccinated? That's starting to sound more like a title for people who have been vaxxed, but it's not necessarily "fully."
And also read the shots may be needed yearly so it's not just one or two shots.
Glitterandgold ah ok I read it differently but perhaps you're right. We should be made aware yo take the necessary precautions!
PhilipMarc Fair enough. Tbh I got my vaccines reluctantly. I'm still concerned about long term effects. Not sure how I feel about yearly jabs. I always refuse the general flu jab. Time will tell I guess.
SAdeals I live in North Tyneside & alot of people yesterday were confused & thinking we were in a local lockdown again. I'm glad we are not, but it's still wise to be cautious
