Ask a Question
Who is watching the fight tonight? Will stay up all night to watch it? Go out? Or wake up early? Or not interested?
Nah, but I've been meaning to watch the new Rocky movie that came out in 2018 or so. Officially titled as "Creed II".
I have never been interested in watching two human beings beat ten bells out of each other.
We try to raise kids to be kind and non aggressive or bullying and yet we glamourise violent gladiator style sports where audiences bay for blood. Don't understand it.
Boxers and other professional fighters arent bullying and are only aggressive in a controlled environment. Yes there are a few that go beyond the boundaries of the sport but most are respectful of their opponents/audiences. Don't confuse sports with bullying and aggressive behaviour in society.
I am not that bothered about it to be honest but after all Ali ending up like a mongled sprongle and not able to enjoy his ill gotten gains it really should be banned - apparently when you hit your heid you lose 10,000 brain cells (i exaggerate for effect of course) so being hit constantly over an hour or so cannot be doing ones health much good but for some people it is the only way they will ever make money.
And it has been going on since the Gladiators in ancient Rome - personally i would rather be back in ancient Rome watching a good gladiatorial battle myself, I find the boxing a bit low brow entertainment and the people who usually attend are of the same ilk - I prefer more of a gentleman's game.. I much prefer a good ROUND of golf and hitting a little white ball than a ROUND in the ring hitting ones head!
But then i am incredibly intelligent and erudite so naturally the lower class thuggish sports are of very little interest to me (sic)....lol
garygemmell lol. I watched a really good true story film about a doctor in America who began researching head injuries in sport, mostly American football. He found there was a far greater percentage of dementia amongst those who played sports where the head was battered a lot than not. Obviously lots more to the film like the establishment trying to shut him down because sport is a billion dollar industry.
It starred Will Smith and was called Concussion.
Don't think I'll stay up to watch it but would like to watch it tomorrow - anyone know where I'll be able to find it tomorrow to watch?
I literally got up a 4:30am to watch the fight and I am not a morning person. It was totally worth it though!
