In the News
Yet another scam to be aware of
With this one you receive parcels you have not ordered or paid for, so thats a plus , but the scammers are using your personal data to help boost their seller ratings and the fact they have your personal information is a danger knowing they can create further scams from this
There is more detail in the second link but yahoo news doesnt stay online long, hence the first link

This been happening for years Amazon is full of them you order a glitch or 13p hair curler they have your details.
I have never heard of this one before A , and have never received any free packages from amazon related to this scam
If someone sends me an i phone free i will not complain though ,but i won't hold my breath on that one
But seriously i have lost count of the scams going on , the odds are you will fall for at least one during your lifetime, lets hope it's not one that is going to cost you a lot
The got my sister bank details a few weeks back tricked her into giving sort code thankfully the bank thought caught them before they got much they took £2 must have been checking before they tried for more
Thats the worst of it M, when they get hold of your bank details , it happened to me 2 years ago, someone bought £500 of i tunes using my bank details, it was in ireland, luckily after investigating and realising i would not spend this on i tunes they compensated and reimbursed me as it took 6 months to resolve
I believe they got my details from a breach of my personal information they told me had happened from a certain holiday booking site
Mick82 Sometimes two pounds is all they try for - if they scam five hundred out of two pounds they get £1,000 pounds. (Tax Free). Most of the 500 won't bother pursuing the matter.
davidstockport never thought of it like that to be honest thank goodness the bank was so vigilant
Never heard of this before, but surely it's real easy to get your name and address in any case, phone books ,electoral registers, council web sites that show planning application etc. Regards of online ratings ,very difficult to know what's true and whats not. Always surprises me with Trustpilot how all the invited reviews shown are always good, where as the non invited often say totally different.
I agree M, ratings are so untrustworthy now i form my own opinion on products i want to buy rather than depending on them
I still search reviews for the same product and also in different countries , eg the US if they have it there, but also look at the negative ratings as these are more likely to be honest rather than trusting the 5 star so called positive
If the negative are for minor reasons then its a good indication the product is good
Yes i forgot about our own honest LD members M , here is the most trustworthy of opinions
For a few years I'd get random parcels addressed to "Tom Tom" at my address .. always cheap items like hair clips, cake icing nozzles, cheap jewellery. I contacted Amazon on more than one occasion but they couldn't help. In the end I gave up and just looked forward to the next package! Havent had one for about 19 months now though.
There are so many different scams around these days. I haven't heard of this one before, so thanks for the info.
If they get into my bank account they will find I don't have any money so hopefully they will put plenty in
I hate these scammers with a vengeance. One day when I was bored I listened to the “BT” guy telling me about the internet problems and how he kindly offered to correct it. After 5 minutes I asked him if his parents were proud of him, yes he replied, then I told him they could never be proud of him scamming vulnerable people. He hung up surprise surprise.
