Believe it or not I experienced racism at school in Australia. I was not only called a Pommie b*****d, but also Casper (the ghost) due to my very pale complexion. I was also called 4 eyes when I wore glasses so often struggled without them.

However, I was never physically bullied and appear to have no lasting mental effects as I was always sensible enough to know it was they who had the problem, not me.

Australians used to be a little hostile towards the British it seems.

Fortunately, it's not so much that way now.

RegularComper90 probably because we were £10 Poms and it's the same in any country, resentment can sometimes boil over toward newcomers. The Aussies have always been a law unto themselves but I think (hope) Pommie b*****d seems to be more of an affectionate term these days and they get away with it whereas others can't. Also children can be quite spiteful sometimes.

I am sure that everyone on here knows already but for those who don't, Pommie, (from POME) stands for prisoner of mother England so it would appear to make more sense to call the Aussies Pommies!

I hated school. Teachers did nothing. I bullied into several suicide attempts which is in my opinion worse than getting bullied into an eating disorder and was even sexually assualted by some students which was caught on camera i was told i was an attwntion seeker.

I think most of us will have experienced bullying in some form. Sadly some receive it more than others. Iv always believed the bully sees something about you that they envy. I have been bullied in school & in the workplace, but iv always been able to fight my corner, more so determinedly as iv gotten older.

Yes, not much as I usually dealt with it quickly. There’s always someone trying it on, trying to pick on others. These people just need to be out in their place

I was never bullied and managed to keep my head down and out of trouble. It's surprising really as I had a lot of traits that are usually singled out (glasses, frizzy hair, nerdy etc).

have u experianced bullying and has it effected your confidence....

Hi SusanEaston327

I am sorry to hear you were bullied at school. It's just horrid.

To answer your question, yes, I have experienced all sorts of bullying throughout my life - physical, verbal, social, cyber and more. People and companies will always try it on. But it has made me a stronger person and I can deal with almost every kind of bully now.

I have found that the more problems I dealt with successfully, and the more negotiating experience I had, the more my confidence - and ability to deal with difficult issues - grew. I've often had to work with lawyers in both my private and working life, and these days friends and family often ask me to be their 'attack dog' to sort out difficult problems. I've developed a thick skin and if necessary will keep turning the screw on companies that refuse to play fair until they change their mind. That said, I've learnt it's usually better to be respected than feared.

Some people just hate confrontation. If you're one of them, and don’t know how to negotiate, try to get some negotiation training, or at the very least read up on how to negotiate. It’ll help you deal with bullies and will boost your confidence. It won't help you deal with physical bullies of course, for that it's well worth taking a few self-defence lessons.

Multiple times. I was bullied at senior school by a girl who ended up by the time we were doing our GCSEs a really good friend of mine. The worst bullying I've had has been work place bullying. I was bullied so bad when I worked at the council that my mum came round to give me a lift to work and found me hugging and crying the staircase saying 'no, no, no, no, don't want to go'. She took me to the doctors as I was this close to a breakdown. I was signed off sick and really never went back. I had to quit my job. I've been bullied 3 more times in the workplace. I do not fit in well with certain times of women in offices. I know why its because I'm an aspie and even though you might not even pick up on it most of the time, I just am that little bit different.

ShellyAnn im in the process of being diagnosed at the age of 32. Ive always been quirky and a bit different. I have been called names as i struggle in social situations and i hated school. I would always stand up for myself though and if someone says anything to me i can flip into a rage quite easily. I suppose i could of understood more if i was diagnosed at a younger age but i think not knowing has allowed me to learn and try to fit in more.

Someone tried to bully me but unfortunately for them they picked on the wrong girl. They got a punch in the face. I wasn’t bullied. I think we all face it In one way or another but i think it only makes us stronger

In High School they called me nerd, but I was only interested in arts. It was so bad, that once our teacher called me into her room to ask me why am I so serious...and I could not answer the question, because it was me, part of my personality.

Yes I have. I'm not a confident person, I always second guess my self.

I put that down to many factors and I do think that has a role in it
