Is There a Button Shortage?
Other
Maybe it is just me that is bothered by it but why do so many cardigans have no buttons these days?
The sides do not stay together in the middle on their own!
I get fed up keep having to wrap the sides around my front and will not buy them anymore as they are not fit for purpose.
I also can't find any attractive boots with a small heel that don't make me look like an old biker bird, they are so clunky and clumsy looking.....but that's another story.
Lynibis they don't put buttons on now because when they fall off no one knows how to sew them back on
You probably have a point there, lilyflower. How sad that people don't know how to do something as simple as sew on a button! They could save so much money by repairing their clothes rather than buying new and we'd all be able to buy cardigans that actually have buttons on. Lynibis, I second what you said about cardigans without buttons on not being fit for purpose. Especially at this time of year.
I can’t sew to save my life. When my kids school trouser hems fell down I had to get my mum to sew them back up and when she passed away I had to use wonderwebnow if I need a button replaced my other half does it. He is quite handy with a needle and thread
heatherduthie lol, I cannot make clothes or anything as ambitious as that, but I can hem things and sew on buttons, but I do find wonderweb a wonderful invention, even if I do have to do it again after a few washes!
lilyflower I know how to sew them back on! I've saved a number of shirts, cardigans, trousers, dresses and a lot of my sons clothes by fixing them! I saved one of his knitted blankets the other week, it's a very useful skill to have!
I actually have a cardigan on now with no buttons and hate it has half my body warm, soon as I get in it be dressing gown on
Yes Ann, at least you can wrap a belt around a dressing gown. I know you can get cardies with belts but not too keen on them.
