Buying Books

Yes i pop into charity to grab myself a book as im very picky i have to pick myself and once I have read them I offer them to friends charity or I will keep them for a bit and perharps re read in the future

I buy books for my son and when he has outgrown them they will be donated to our local library so other children can get joy from them.

I pass them on except for my Rebus collection. That's safely kept. I'm missing the last book as my partner has said for over a year he will get it for me....hint hint!

I buy most of mine from charity shops. I keep any favourites, Then I usually pass anything I think they'll like onto my sister or MIL, sometimes il pop some along to my partners grandmother as she reads alot but is particularly fussy. Anything else goes back to charity shop.

I buy all my books from the charity shops and that’s where they go back! I don’t keep any of them as I don’t particularly feel attached to any of them.

I buy 98% of mine second hand for cost reasons and the kind of books I read are not popular, so you can't get a lot of them in waterstones unless you order. I keep them all. I have a huge library. It is hard to accommodate my books. Books everywhere. Stacked up floor to ceiling. My new living room will be bigger as will my bed room, so I'll have more shelve space.

I like to purchase from charity shops and I take it back as well. Sometimes I do gift my books to someone I think may be benefitted from it

My daughter loves reading. She never creases the spine and her favourite smell is a new book. I was going to get her an ereader for Christmas that went down like a lead balloon

I've recently packed up three fruit boxes full of books for charity. Like you, I felt that they were taking up too much room and I probably kept them with some sentimentality. I think e-readers have had an impact on paper books and I don't buy full priced anymore.

I love buying books but I also use the library a lot. As well as giving some to the charity shops I use ziffit and music magpie to sell them and make myself a few quid (to spend on more books )

Any books I bought that I had read I either passed them to friends or gave them to charity

I leave them at work or at the golf club for others when I have read them , books are precious I could never bring myself to chuck or destroy one . Despite the convenience I have rarely read an EBook - nothing like the feel of a physical book in your hands .

I love books but tend to load them to my kindle and only have a few classics on the bookcase along with non fiction favourites, mainly history. I would never get rid of a book just because I have read it. I am reading one of my favourite set of books for the third time.

Funny you should ask that question as today in my town I paid my 1st visit to a Free Cycle event, it was brilliant and so well organised. I picked up a bag full of books for myself and my new Granddaughter, most of them looked as though they hadn't even been read. When we've finished with them I will take them back to a Free Cycle event or local charity shop.

I've given quite a few books to charity recently. Occasionally they are books I thought I would read but never did.

I love the look and feel of an old book especially when someone from centuries ago has expressed their thoughts very vividly and clearly in it, it makes it seem like that person is still alive or I've travelled into the past. There is a magic to some books like Samuel Pepys.

I don’t buy books any more. I have a kindle so download free ones now. All the old books I had got passed along to people or a charity shop though

yes i give to charity after i read them, or see if a family member wants them. i am a massive book worm but so is my mum lucky enough

I just download them on my kindle because i xant cope with having to find somewhere to store books. Its easier and cleaner to have them all on the kindle.
