Is This Cake Contest Worthy?
Ask a Question
Hi all! My husband (very competitive chap!) asked me to bake something for his office bake off in a few weeks so I'm having a think. It needs to be gluten free. I found that one last night, it looks OK.
Contest worthy or not?
I don't have a sweet tooth so I'm not the best at picking cakes, but I can bake them!
Would the cardamon put people off? Or make it more unique and attractive?!
It looks lovely gaelle. Personally i would not like cardamon but that does not detract from your baking skills.
One thought: if it is your husband's office bake off should he not be doing the baking lol?
Thanks Lynibis! Haha yes , I agree with you, he should really be the one baking! But as he wants to win... better it is me
If it's for an office bake off, I would stick to things people are more likely to have tried and liked. You know, the basics - carrot cake, chocolate, brownies etc. Although if you are a seasoned baker, perhaps you already know that.
Looks nice but agree with others if for an office bake off i would stick with a classic that you know everyone loves, who doesnt like a chocolate brownie. Perhaps jazz it up a little and add orange to it or raspberry, do a bit of fancy decoration on top, let us know how you get on :-) good luck
thanks sarahtwinmom & GlitchHunter - I'll try and make a gluten free 'classic' recipe then. I saw a brownies with salted caramel recipe, that was my second choice, I can adapt it to GF
Yeah that sounds lush. Salted caramel brownies will go down a treat. And yeah some fancy decorating is usually what sets out the winner!
