Call to Ban Freakshakes - Nooooooooooo!!
News
As a fan of all things sugar I'm somewhat appalled to read the sugar police, Action on Sugar is demanding a ban on freakshakes - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-46179175
I like freakshakes, but they are not for the fainthearted. Best not attempted after a large meal.
Admittedly they are very unhealthy, but as long as you just eat one every once in a while, rather than once or more a week, I say leave them alone.
The picture of a 'freakshake' used in the BBC article looks rather tame and would surely classify as a 'white-belt' entry level example.
A better example can be found here (I'd recommend this place if you're ever in Shoreditch ) - https://www.boxpark.co.uk/shoreditch/food-and-drink/soft-serve-society/
If more people would have a little more self control then none of these 'unhealthy' foods would get banned by the food police. These sort of foods are meant to be unhealthy. That's the whole point of them, and is not going to in any way harm you if you only have them on moderation.
And it looks delicious btw.
If you take a massive dose of anything in one hit it can cause harm and sugar is no exception. Having in moderation is neither here or there if you are subjecting your body to a week's worth of sugar at one time. It could be enough to tip over into diabetes. Just like kids who drink too many energy drinks, too much fatty food in one go, too much alcohol in one session which could cause you to collapse with alcohol poisoning. I don't know what these things are but I am a self confessed member of the sugar police since I got Diabetes 2 and reversed it without drugs by cutting out sugar. I have a real love/hate affair with the white stuff!
A ban would never work. Shoppers could go to any supermarket buy a milkshake, pick up a couple of cakes and some other sweet treats. Then combine them at home to make their own freakshake. Most people know these types of things are unhealthy, but many will eat them anyway. The problem with food health warnings is that we get so many of them they are easy to ignore. The onus has to be on individuals to not frequently overindulge and take regular exercise.
