I Can't Believe How Selfish People Are

In the News

I just read the following news story on the BBC website ........

BBC News - Devon and Cornwall gridlock caused by cars 'from all over country'

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-52742519

Why do some people think that they are above everyone else and can do exactly what they want?

They are putting others at risk 😡

Same where I live, everyone flogging to the seafront 😞

It's a real shame people are not adhering to the rules, luckily we have a garden and open fields if the kids like to be out(with me or Dad)and go for a walk,I've not felt tempted to go to the beach, its just mad, considering the death toll 😞

The roads are busier everywhere, without a doubt. As you have pointed out, it's not because of a small number of people returning to work. It's idiots thinking they have a green light to get out. Incidents have gone up on the local roads and motorways so the driving standards are as bad as always too. It's not fair on emergency services! Costa opens tomorrow for drive through coffee I believe. You watch. There will be massive queues formed by morons with nothing better to do just like KFC last week and the council tips just before that. None of it is a necessity but they'll all be out there, crashing into each other on the way.

Why can't they just buy a coffee machine. If they love costa so much a machine would pay for itself in a couple of months.

Lynibis I think there's something special about paying over three quid for a coffee to some people. With that, I'll be diplomatic and say each to their own. However, is it worth going for a drive, getting stuck in a queue, causing congestion and potentially more hassle for local traffic police in the process? Absobloodylutely not!

Yep, you're right.

The only way that these fools are going to realize how bad this thing is, is when they lose someone close to them.

I have an idiot neighbour who gets visitors every day.

I've just seen the queues for the re-opened McDonalds as well as the beach scenes - absolutely insane. It really does scare me. Boris talks of common sense but the news shows just the opposite

KirstyWhit29673 yes the McD queues blocking up main roads are a joke, you'd think people would realise that if they waited a week when the novelty of McD being open was over they could just drive in. Just think of the carbon footprint of getting that McD meal, engines idling for an hour in the queue. All the lockdown environmental benefits gone in days.

I am so lucky. I live in Shetland. Even on a normal day, with no pandemic, there is hardly ever anyone on our stunning beaches. I can walk the dogs for 5 miles and never see another soul.

We have had no new cases for 4 weeks and no deaths for 2 weeks.

The ferries have stopped non residents with non essential trips coming here and is now only every other day, and there is now only 1 commercial flight in and out.

It makes me sad for the folk on the mainland that this is allowed to happen. 😥

Stay safe everyone ❤️

sharonmarie1 If I had my way, there'd be police on every single road coming into Wales and checking why people are coming in, and turning them back if non-essential.

Mind you, there's a load of divs here anyway who just flout the rules. I'd just build a big camp and stick everyone who breaks the law into it.

A bit extreme, maybe, but people would soon learn.

A minority of people have flouted regulations throughout lockdown. Since the most recent relaxation it is like the genie is out of the bottle and some people think we are back to business as usual. I am lucky to live a beautiful seaside town which is a haven for visitors. I understand that people enjoy coming here but once numbers increase distancing becomes impossible in certain areas. This is made worse as many businesses are still closed. Staff in the shops that are open are increasingly harassed. Car parks and toilets are closed. Some visitors have been using residential areas as both. The local paper even reported that some have illegally parked in the hospital car park before using the toilets then walking into town - despicable.

Following on from the quote by the TheChimp "Why do some people think that they are above everyone else and can do exactly what they want? They are putting others at risk" It's not only those travelling to various country places. I was told this yesterday - a team member, working two jobs, completed a 4 hour shift, went home than asked if partner could be tested as had Covid-19 symptoms. Partner, son and team member were all tested. Partner and son negative. Team member positive and they had just worked all shift with a sore throat!!!!!!!!!! In their second job the previous weekend they had cared for a COVID-19 patient 1-2-1, no full PPE before being hospitalised. Those trying to protect and safe us can also put us at great risk.
