I agree. The points/ voucher system is a nice bonus but the site offers so much more to members

I just wish we had a "moderator " to disallow and remove all the patently "posted for points " non deals .

We all have differences on what we consider a deal but most deals posted (especially from Amazon marketplace ) are posted simply because it is quick and easy to do so .

These non deals just clog up the site , never get read and prevent "real deals " even being noticed amongst pages and pages of dross .

Sorry most members aren't "earning " points they are clogging up and ruininig the site by posting "non deals " as fast as possible .

If a many members were asked "what deals did you post yesterday ?) They wouldn't remember .

kfe202 Yes from me too I think it's great as it is... I initially joined because of the draw of the points alongside the comping ... I thought it great to be able to 'earn' whilst trying my luck at winning. I have yet to win via LD but am dead chuffed with my earnings and as a result, I've kept returning-rarely missing a day...and also learning a fair bit on the way! I detest the silly Amazon 'deals' and on principle wouldn't post any of those myself ... I do try to post deals that someone somewhere might be interested in, trying to put myself in their shoes tho I admit they're usually crafts or DIY focused and never beauty bits - cos that's just not me!

It would be nice to have Supermarket vouchers and or a points hit at 75,000 as 100,000 seems a long long way off

That's good to hear Tom . Not sure it is self promotion , just that many members seem to be able to rattle off 3 click and paste Amazon deals in under a minute ! and do so on a daily basis . Easy to spot from the times posted and are always 3 non deals . These members aren't deal sharers they are sadly voucher earners .

I realise you can't check every "deal" posted but this site is increasingly being perceived as a " voucher earning " site rather than a "deal sharing " site .

There is nothing worse for a member than finding a great deal , taking 20 minutes to check it out , another 20 minutes to describe and post the deal (including why it is considered a good deal ) , a further 10 minutes to check the photos/ info is correct - then see it disappear into the second or third page of "non deals" within minutes - never to be noticed !

Golfforall I don't think it's ever going to change. They have a business model that works for them. Nothing has changed with regards to 'deals' based on any feedback I've seen since joining. I mean, look at some of the stuff they post as a company. You then have the regulars who just find mediocre deals on Amazon that are simply price matched with Tesco etc. I still go to the competitor if I actually want a good price for something. That's not a dig at Latest Deals but more a concern because I can't be the only one. I won't bang on about it on any more on this thread because it's a waste of time. Good luck though!

BORDERJOE Haha that’s nice to hear, thank you. Very often we’d love to shout YES to every suggestion straight away. But over the years we’ve learned there are often many (unspoken) sides to the story.

For example, say you spent hours researching a fantastic deal. It’s the best price, cheaper than ever, free delivery. But, for whatever reason, it doesn’t get any likes. After all your hard work, we feel it’s nice to get a reward for your hard work... and would be a bit shitty to not get anything.

And, let’s say it was for an iPad. Your deal may not appear on the homepage, but it does appear on the iPad page (LatestDeals.co.UK/tags/iPad). Many people go to the iPad page and find your deal very useful there. They may not “like” it and it may never become “popular” in that sense, but you’ve still helped others and contributed.

This is true to an extent of all deals. Popularity is subject to your interests. The best example of this on Latest Deals is video games. The majority of our members are not interested (at present). On other deal sites a video game deal may be top of the day - the most popular - on ours, nothing. Does that mean it’s a bad deal?

So at the moment we think the long-term solution to making Latest Deals more enjoyable to all is to make it more personal to your interests. Deal Alerts is one such idea - the ability to follow deals for a product or brand (e.g. iPad, Tesco, Yankee Candle).

But again, we’re always looking to improve and explore all options, and no door is ever closed!

It's so refreshing to get a real, genuine response from a leader instead of just some generic reply. For myself, I'm quite happy with the Amazon vouchers as a reward and I look forward to where this site is heading in future.

Tom Thanks for all that...it's taken me ages to get my head around 'tags' ...that's something I learned to do via LD too! Yep there are always so many sides to any story ... worse still when you're like me who'll sit on the fence and listen and keep being swayed

I second this. That's not a bad idea at all. One potential catch would be that people could game the system by liking rubbish deals in order to get points for their friends. That said, whatever we do, there's always going to be a contingent who find a way to game the system or who are all about getting for themselves instead of adding value.
