Best Cat Repellent Please?
Ask a Question
Does anybody know of a really good cat repellent to stop my neighbours cat doing it's business in my garden? Thanks in advance
STEH77 Dried orange or lemon peel or cayenne pepper sprinkled where the cat normally goes.
Cats hate citronella oil but if it rains it may not be as strong. Getting a cat of your ownoften does the trick
Failing that a water pistol can be useful too.
rararachel Getting a cat of your own attracts other cats. That's speaking from experience.
Dennab my cat use to be very territorial and would go bat$hit crazy if another cat appeared. Even if he saw another cat through the window
rararachel That's what I meant really. A cat may successfully get rid of cats but their presence is the reason the unwanted visitor was there in the first place. My Mum's cat for instance had a neighbour's cat follow her into the house recently!
I was going to suggest one of those water jet guns, that certainly works but you bear me to it.
Used Coffee grounds , cats don't like the smell of Coffee just sprinkle on the ground around the area you want them to avoid.
You can get solar powered deterrents that have proxmity sensors and omit very high frequency sound when birds, cats etc come nearby. Worth checking Amazon, ebay etc.
Don't tell your other neighbours you have it though as if every garden has one the cats will be forced to put up with the sound when they do their business. You want to make your garden the less attractive option.
This is an extremely useful topic! Thank you for posting this because the neighbours' cats do my head in. I like cats but not theirs.
I had ongoing problems with neighbours cats using my garden as a toilet and employed a few of the methods above with varying degrees of success. The ultrasonic repellent was probably the best. Now we have a dog and that seems to have stopped it almost entirely.
I bought a repellent from Wilko. It was garlic granules for cats. It worked wonders and stopped the cat from spraying all up my front door. It did smell abit but would rather that than cat spray
