Does anyone else watch Catfish? My hubby does sometimes and I end up watching with him..what surprises me is that some people having virtual relationships with someone they havent facetimed with, never met sometimes hasn't even spoke to on the phone...and it happened for months...sometimes even 3, 5 or even 10?! Years (on and off). Few times its spurned lover or mates etc but mostly its overweight women or men pretending to be skinny...and I find this the saddest part. Because clearly they are unhappy,ashamed, trapped in their bodies unable to change...but really each to their own. For every guy who likes skinny girls there's a guy who likes bigger, fuller girls.. it's just sad that regardless if you're super skinny or bigger girls they still get body shamed...
The idea of having an online relationship for months or even years without facetiming someone is insane and should be a huge red flag.
laraquinn exactly... quite often they even send money to someone they never met?!
I've seen the show, and the relationships that go on for years kinda baffle me- why would you keep it going for that long, without really knowing for sure who you're talking with? And also, why does the catfish keep it going for that long? Sometimes they say that they have real feelings for the person they've been lying to, but they must know that it won't end well...
The ones with the overweight people kinda made me sad, cos I felt like in some of the situations, if they'd been honest it wouldn't have mattered. The person who they'd been chatting to liked them for who they were, their personality, but it was the lying that screwed things up.
angelik I suppose they want to believe that the person is real...and when they have deep conversations and support each other you wouldn't think they lying.. and as for catfish I suppose they get in too deep... after a year lying it must be hard to come out and be like "oh btw I'm not a bloke I'm a woman"...
What shocked me was that on rare occasions the "catfish" are actually what they said they are...but on one of these exceptions a guy kept chatting to "catfish" went to meet her...and apparently he has a fiance?! He wanted to see if shes real and there will be sparks...if I was his fiance I would dump him on the spot....
