Changing Characters
Ask a Question
Coronation Street is the latest soap to change Actors to play characters. What’s your opinion? Do you prefer them to write the character out of it if they need a new actor?
I prefer them to write the character out, or like Taggart keep the name but not pretend they are the same person.
I prefer it when they just write the character out. Having a new actor play an existing character never feels right, it can be hard to take them seriously. And what kinda bugs me about it is they often end up completely changing the personality of the existing character when someone new takes over as the actor. Why not just write the character out and come up with a brand new character?
No problem with it. . . the storylines are around characters (not actors), there are numerous characters in Coronation Street that were formerly played by different actors and also numerous actors who have played different characters.
The latest actress to make a reappearance as a different character is Paula Wilcox who formerly played Ray Langton's sister, Ray Langton was Tracy's father, Tracy herself has been played by at least four actresses and had at least five surnames.
Not arsed. I don't spend enough of my life watching TV to care. It's quite funny when they bring in a new actor though, especially when they don't even justify why the person looks completely different.
Only if you the old ones on Itv3 which are great to watch, especially as Ken Barlow is in them.
I think they should just write them out especially when character has been out for a while
I did used to like the old Todd from coronation Street but this new one does seem like a good actor. It did annoy me when they replaced Lucy from Eastenders, I missed the first actress who played her
