Changing Social Circle

Don't be silly please, I think you're too quick to judge me when you don't even know the circumstances.

Would you rather have 'old' friends who only call if they want something from you and talk behind your back?

I would be better off without these type of friends or perhaps you like having friends who use you?

Would you rather have 'quality' friends who support you in every way, shape or form with no expectations?

These friends are rare gems to find.

jakemoss Those people are not friends and obviously never have been, most of us only have 3 or 4 true friends (the rare gems) and those relationships are nurtured by both parties. I do not feel I am being silly, it was you who named the topic changing social circles and asking the best way to ditch old friends.

jakemoss The word "Friend" is overused, ditching those not worthy of the title should be tactfully done by telling them that you're demoting them from "Friend" to "Aquaintance". I go as far as telling any who displease me that I would remove them from my Christmas card list... if I had one.

I'd rather have ONE decent friend than a thousand people who don't return my friendship.

davidstockport I agree, I'm sick and tired of so called "friends" who only use me for favours. Really annoying...Had one friend who was asking me like 3 favours a week for random things and wanting to come over everything when they were bored.

How can that make a new genuine friend?. You have to meet, talk and experience things together in order to become friends. Someone chatting online cannot go to lunch, cinema or shopping with you. They can't lend you their car or babysit (and vice versa). Plus all the other life experiences that make up a genuine friendship.
