Charity Shops - Going to Be Some Good Finds
Ask a Question
With everyone decluttering and renovated their homes am quite looking forward to having a browse in them after lockdown. I think there going to be some interesting finds.
Anyone else like a good charity shop where I live their is a good 10
Ann1984 There are 5 where I live, BHF - expensive. Local Hospice - never has much. SSAFA - not sure if they will survive. Scope - good. Salvation Army - great bargains. We also have a free book shop. Looking forward to them all opening again.
There are 4 charity shops where I live. I enjoy having a browse in them but it is impossible to get the pram in any of them as there isn't much room so I don't go in them often. Everytime I have been in recently there is never anything in my sons size anyway.
I reckon a lot of people will be selling their stuff to try get some extra money.
Hi anne1984 sorry to tell you that no charity shops will be open until next year. And all so they have stoped taking goods has well. If you wanted some good deals go on eBay. That's wear people are putting there's things and biding. I've got some very good stuff over the last few day. Clothes, ds game, a new winter coat. Some lovely lanterns . And some lovely rugs. DVD books
I just got my son some clothes from fb marketplace. He won't need them till September but I might not be able to get them then so buying them early.
Where are you getting that info from about charity shopa not opening for another year? Find it hard to believe.
I don't think they will be shut ebay may be good for sum but I like to see first what am buying if used nothing on there websites have said they closed for a year
Dennab true I got a huge paw petrol bundle would of cost a fortune new or if someone sold online used but weren't put out in shop had just been handed in I said how much she said it be individually priced I offer 20 she took and I mean huge by the big truck plane sea petrol plane all vehicles and figures
I have cleared out my wardrobe and will be taking some clothes to a local charity shop when they are open and it is safe to do so. I'm sure they'll be grateful for people both donating and shopping at them when they are back open.
My husband has been trying to get me to clear my wardrobes and even offered to empty one at a time placing it on the bed. If he does that it’ll end in divorce,
I love going to charity shops but have wondered about them continuing.
I considered who would want to touch anything pre-owned that could potentially have the virus on it?
Would the charity shops themselves want to accept donations or collect bagged items that could potentially have the virus on it?
Would the public want to have that 'good rummage' as that also involved touching everything.
You would have restrictions on how many in a shop at any one time and I think that their profits will be badly affected.
How can they continue?
tumblespots people rummaging is going to be pretty much same in all clothes shops with sale rails for example the next sale are they still going to open doors at 5am
Ann1984 I suppose so, I didn't consider sale rails and I can't remember how long the virus is supposed to stay alive on fabric.
I love a charity shop. I'm looking forward to them re opening, whenever that may be. I have several good ones around the area near me that iv picked up a number of bargains in. I also think there'll be more goodies then ever after lockdown & everyone's had a clear out. I already know several people waiting to donate stuff they have had a clear of.
I do miss a good rummage in the charity shops, and look forward to doing it in the near future. The clothes banks were over flowing when I last checked
People could advertise these things on fb marketplace etc and items can be left outside front door for person to pick up. I got an amazing bundle of clothes for my son off fb, it was all done contactless and I've washed all the clothes. Unfortunately some people don't have the room to keep items until this is over and they might not have a homeless charity near them to hand them into.
In my town we have few charity shops left. We had many but they closed down years ago. I wonder if they will put their prices down as before lockdown many items were overpriced.
