Google local walks. musuems. groupon have some good cheap things to do as well

Visit your local park, go to a castle or heritage site, lots of fun activities at those for kids. Indoor - go to the cinema, go bowling, visit a museum, have a baking day at home

Pizza making from start to finish is really appreciated by children. You have to work up to the day with the attitude that 'it's only flour...... it can be cleaned up fairly easily'. It can be started in the morning to enjoy at lunch or made for the evening. The ingredients are fairly cheap - either make your bases or buy them and the sauce can be made with 2/3 tomatoes or with a supermarket carton of passata, (Asda 33p) toppings are anything you have in the fridge. If you all hate pizzas then jam tarts or cake baking. The way the weather has been lately there is a fair chance you will have one miserable 'indoors day' that this could be used for.
