Where is the Cheapest Pint in the Country?

Ask a Question

Just had a pint of lager in Weatherspoons for £1.49 up North.

Recently had one in Dublin for almost 9 quid.

Anyone beat that.

Thanks

It was always the case the north was cheaper than the south in many things, including the traditional pint. I remember my dad discussing it with a friend once when we went into a pub and a pint was about 5 times as much as a Northern Pint.

I am sure it must have levelled out though now.

I am a southerner in the Midlands, house prices are cheaper, 3 times cheaper than the south, pints are cheaper and wages are higher. Could never afford to live down south anymore

£1.50 a pint in most pubs near me in Derbyshire, though the stronger ones like Stella and Kronenbourg are £1.99, cocktail jugs are 2 for £15, shots are 3 for £5 and they still make a profit

I think you can get a pint of Ruddles for £1.99 at any Wetherspoons.

You can't even get a pint "at any cost" in most Wetherspoon's in the north, maybe half a litre if you're lucky. to add insult to injury any JDWs anywhere near a football or cricket ground increase the price of their so called pints by £1.35 on matchdays. from £2.25 to £3.60 (and that was over three and a half years ago, it's probably even more now). https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/football-fans-fury-wetherspoons-adds-8521460

The £1.49 pint you had was a promotion (February only). A few years ago you could have got it for 99p then when all local opposition has been forced out of business, they more than doubled the price. They'll charge as much as they can get. They don't even charge the same prices in their pubs in the same town.

Certainly not that price down here. Our local is a gastro pub! And charge £5 a pint
