Do You Check Online before You Want to Buy Something in Store?

Other

I have the habit of checking the price of a product online in each store. Then I find the cheapest deal. At last I go to that store to buy the product. Everything from shampoos, cereals, diapers, groceries.. Just wanted to know if I am the only one.

Food yes but everything else is online as its cheaper - it is sadly why the high street is dying.

So many Chinese ebay stores selling stuff for £1 that costs £10 in the shops here!

LesandKathy 1957 - not sure but it appears you might think you're speaking to Amazon - this site is not part of Amazon - If I've misunderstood my apologies.

I go as far as checking ONLINE the price of anything offered for sale ONLINE. I am particulary wary of any that quote a very big discount but have inflated the supposed price to make it look a better deal.

I noticed one (on here) that was offering a discount from £825 to £499 - on a guitar that has a RRP of

£475 - and with just a few clicks could be found for £399 elsewhere - I feel very sorry for those suckered in by such RIP OFF deals.

Incidentally probably better guitars could be found somewhere in the £120 - £200 range. In a music shop and if you haggle you can usually get a padded carrying bag or hard shell case "thrown in" on more expensive guitars.

That is just good money management to me. Doing market intelligence online, magazines, newspapers, social media et etc by comparing prices.

Thats how big names shop for their suppliers as well. They go to the cheapest manufacturer cost (China,India, asia, europe etc etc) with the cheapest labour cost so they can sell it in UK for a very good profit. If they are doing it for their business then why are we no different? 🙂

Happy shopping 😎

I have via ebay often bought things from China - usually at about a fifth of the UK cost. Nobody can say the quality is inferior - they're EXACTLY the same item.

I don't mind having to wait a little longer for delivery - I'm like a child waiting for Christmas.

Incidentally no matter how good a deal I think I've found - I still keep searching.

Nothing more annoying than finding a better price after you've bought ☺

davidstockport It does annoy me to find out I could have bought an item for a cheaper price somewhere else..lol. Thats why I surf the net for the best price.

It's even worse when everyone on the plane "to sunshine" is discussing how much they've paid - but a really great start to the holiday when you find you've paid the least.

Just a tip - I am at the moment checking out the cost of my home insurance. I rarely stay with the same insurer for more than two years, those who don't can be paying seven or eight times more than their next door neighbours in an identical house.

I might phone my present insurers and see if they'll match the best quote I get though. If they don't I might even go back to them next year and start off again at the starting rate.

It's a great negotiating technique - YOU tell them how much you're willing to pay THEY can take it or leave it!

It depends what I'm buying. The more expensive the item the more likely I'm going to compare prices online

Food I'll usually pick up at the supermarket I'm in but pretty much everything else I can't resist having a quick Google and seeing if it's available cheaper elsewhere! Or if there's a discount somewhere. Always check for discounts 😃
