Child Rapist's Prison Sentence Cut by Three Years because It Was 'Too Harsh'

In the News

Sorry, I have no words. So, if you have a traumatic upbringing it excuses you for being a monster ?

Those poor children, hopefully the only positive is that they are now being well cared for away from a filthy and neglectful home. I hope they get the help they need to come to terms with what has happened to them in their young lives😥.

There is no sentence too harsh for raping a child. There is absolutely no excuse for harming a child, in any way. Having a traumatic upbringing doesn't excuse your horrendous actions. Plus those children now have a traumatic experience to deal with.

This country legal system is flawed. It's disgusting the sentences they give for rapist's and murderers. I feel sorry for poor victims and their families when they don't receive the justice they deserve. It's not right that offender gets to lead a normal life after doing a small sentence it just sends the wrong message. I just hope in time laws will change.

rena07 I try not to post bad news stories, but I was so angry reading this story. I think the original judge, with his summing up of the case and the original sentence was reasonable, but it was changed on appeal. But I am sorry I don't care about the perpetrator, like you I feel the sentence should match the crime.

Its vile that he is being protected but sadly it doesn't surprise me. The legal system is failing due to lack of funding as with everything else and the government have ignored it for years. This country protects rapists and sex offenders it does not protect their victims. In fact prosecutions of rape were less than 1% last year. Not much of a deterrent.

Midnightflower people on here might not like Paul Joseph Watson, but his newest video reports on how incompetent police has become.

I remember reading an article a few years ago which the homeowner defended himself and his property, yet the home invadee was deemed to be the victim in all of it. 😑

For self-defense in U.K.:

Guns are banned.

Pepper spray is banned.

Tazer is banned.

Knives are (partially) banned (if too big).

Citizens have gotten used to hate all types of self-defense (especially guns) and when they need one, they don't have it.

Can't those criticising the judgement (supposedly reducing the sentence) do their sums.

It will now be two months longer before he can be considered for release.

When it was 13 years he could have been considered for release after 6 years and six months.

Now it is 10 years with a minimum of two thirds to be served it will be 6 years and EIGHT months. With a recall for any future offence for four years after release. (He'll only be out on licence).

It seems a better sentence to me. The public are protected for longer. Hopefully they won't need protection.

davidstockport I suppose as the crime is so heinous I didn't think they would let him out until he had served the full sentence

beccatavender It doesn't work like that - it will depend on when they consider it reasonably safe to release him. He was so young when he committed the offences... (and the offences were possibly a result of him being a victim himself) either way he will be watched before and after release. (I don't know too much about the case before this - so passing no judgement).

Can only hope that his victims don't become offenders themselves.

The (in)justice system is too soft on criminals.

So many things that need to reform in the U.K., but the justice system should be an absolute priority.

Is it really a suprise in this world of craziness . When it comes 2 crimes against children whether it is murder or rape the minimim sentence in my eyes should be never to enjoy there freedom outside of a prison is the minimum and to deter people I have never been against the death penalty as I have always thought it would be a very good deterrant to them comitting the most horrendous crime against the most vulnerable in society .
