Children's Packed Lunch Ideas

Other

My kid is fed up with sandwiches, cocktail sausages, sausage rolls, wraps and rolls for his packed lunch. He's at school and they prefer cold lunches. What's everyone's suggestions other than the above.... plus any lunch saving idea are a bonus...

My wee man loves couscous fingers.

Get out my fussy eater. Loads of ideas. Although they will need to be made in advance the night better.

My son likes cold pasta, also we used to make little egg like quiche/omelette tarts using a cupcake tray. Just put bits of ham tomato, sweetcorn, onion (whaetever they like and add a bit of cheese and egg then cook in the oven.

Make sandwiches into shapes to mix it up a bit! Even if it’s just cutting a sandwich into a star or heart or using a large cookie cutter to use a specific shape. How about carrot and cucumber sticks for a healthy snack? With some hummus maybe?

I used to do that but now he's 8 and he's far too cool for that. He'd be horrified at even the thought πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. It's lovely for little ones though.

Hi, there's some lovely ideas mentioned here 😍 I agree about my fussyeater she has some great recipes online too. I make sort of mini pizzas made with muffins cut in half, a tomato paste and then add mushrooms, sweetcorn or any toppings they like and finish off with grated cheese.

The mini pizzas could be a good shout, he doesn't like cheese but he loves pizza without it. In all honesty i find my fussyeater not all that great πŸ˜”. Someone here suggested sushi which is a good idea.

I also like to prepar in advance mayonnaise rice or pasta salad. My favourite combination is with sweetcorn, cheese, bacon and mayo - works well with both pasta and rice πŸ€—

Could it be that they're just fed up of the filling ls in the sandwiches and wraps, the same stuff all the time? Maybe get a bit more inventive with what you add to them, if they're not too fussy?

He is very fussy and will only have ham or Tuna. He doesn't like cheese. We've tried loads but he's not really a fan of sandwiches anyway.

I would suggest sushi, but i know most people are not sure about it, as all they think about it the fish. But you can make veggie versions, or chicken versions, or anything else you fancy - itβ€˜s just anything wrapped in rice and seaweed. I’ve got a sushi maker, so I experiment with all sorts

MichelleKe42857 you’re welcome. That’s good he likes fish, so you can make the salmon and tuna sushi rolls for him - can probably get him to make it himself, as it’s quite fun, and kids love getting involved 😊

He has tuna pasta but the little weirdo doesn't like tomato based pasta and detests cheese. Thanks.
