Chips - Mayo, Ketchup or Something Else?
Ask a Question
Was chatting with a friend who said they preferred mayo on their chips to tomato ketchup. I am more traditional and prefer ketchup (although cheese is by far the greatest topping... or is it)? What do you put on your chips? I expect gravy to feature but I'm sure there are some great ideas out there...
My other half has cheesy chips a d gravy all together I mean one or the other is fine but together - it's a no from me.
I don't like mayo and everything now seems to have mayo on it. Even the packed sandwiches seem to substitute butter for mayo or include it as standard.
From the chippy, itโs always malt and onion vinegar. Anywhere else, when I have access to it, itโs chilli sauce
I like to have curry sauce with chip shop chips.
As for oven chips I usually have them as they are, though now and then I will have them with some ketchup.
Not really a ketchup fan for chips - definitely gravy, curry sauce and Pommes Frites mit Mayonnaise.
Gravy! Particularly the Mayflower Southern Fried Gravy from home bargains. On chips its or mayo.
dawarwick I meant Style not fried. I may have got distracted thinking about southern fried chicken while typing that.
Usually mayo, occasionally ketchup.. fully agree that cheese is the greatest topping for most savoury food items, especially chips and pasta... i remember the mayo in Canada (done three trips there) being SOO much better than the mayo in the UK for chips
Iโd say salt and vinegar on the chips and then mayo and ketchup mixed on the side..donโt like the sauces on the chips!
It would be tomato ketchup or curry sauce for me. I haven't tried gravy or cheese on them.
I normally opt for mayo, but will have ketchup from time to time. My local chip shop re-opened this week. Had my first bag from them in 3 months yesterday. Just had it with salt & vinegar, as they didn't seem to have their normal range of condiments
Grab a bowl, put garlic powder, himalayan salt and hot paprika
Put chips in
As much Malt Vinegar as necessary
More garlic powder, salt and paprika
Move chips around to get the powders stick on them
That's a guilty snack for me xD
