If You Could Only Choose 1 of These 5 Site Changes, Which One Would It Be?
Ask a Question
I think we can all agree that LatestDeals is an awesome site and is in very capable hands, but just for fun I imagined being one of the site founders for a day and put together some ideas. Pick one of the five or add your own if you like!
So here's my list of 5:
1. The ability to send and receive direct messages.
2. A longer character limit for deal titles.
3. The ability to follow other users and receive alerts when they post deals.
4. The ability to downvote deals and comments.
5. Auto subscription to deals and threads that you comment on which sends a notification when new comments are added.
I think they’re all pretty good ideas, the only one I feel has the potential to be misused is the downvote option. There has been disagreements on the site before and users could then just downvote deals from other users they don’t like.
If I had to pick, number 5 is the best
I like option 3 as there are some good users who post great deals. not sure i like option 4 so thats a definate no to me. but all others are good suggestions too :-)
Option 3 sounds best. The others you can do on facebook. I wouldn't want this to turn into a facebook clone.
1, 3 and 5 would be acceptable, as for 2, 80 characters should be enough for deals, but maybe not enough when asking a question, in chat.... 4, downvoting doesn't wash well with me as just because I don't particularly like a deal doesn't mean I would down vote it.
Besides, all of the above is how the other deals site works and it does get abused, like Sportsdirect deals always get voted down because there's people got an issue with Mike Ashley.
I like the idea of downvoting (with no points awarded) but maybe only allow 1-3 downvotes a day so it don't get abused.
I've seen sooo many bad "deals" on here..
The miniature so called "fish tank" that about 50 people liked, it was 15 cm or so and someone wanted to put 3 tetras in it!!
The AgVintage "deals" that are clearly chinese tat being passed off as silver, listed as "free" but charging £4.99 postage! Which they then order from china for 99p (or less) and nicely send straight to you for a nice tidy £4 profit..
Then there's the hoona make up bag "freebie" phishing scam that over 100 people liked.
I feel the amount of likes on a "deal" draws more people in.. (even though it's bad)
I try to warn people in the comments but hardly anyone reads them.
