Chores and Children

I find it easier to do myself but I still make them help and no cash for helping its their mess

My son is only one so he can't help with much and he prefers making a mess to tidying up but when old enough I will get him to help.

Well as mine are now teenagers yes they do chores, often begrudgingly & after alot of pestering on my behalf admittedly, but they do.I still do most of the cleaning but everyone has to pull there weight.1 rule I have is that they have to do ALL there own ironing, but that's mostly cos I hate ironing with an almighty passion!.

They're supposed to. They half-do jobs at the moment so I'm introducing something whereby if I have to call them back to finish a job they get given another.

I think they should be doing chores around their house it'll prepare them for when they have a house of their own they shouldnt expect parents to come round and do all the cooking and cleaning and other things too once the children have grown up and moved out.

I think the Victorians had the right idea, shove them up a chimney and they don't answer back

I ask them to help me (sometimes repeatedly!) and we do chores together. Otherwise they do get pocket money that they can spend on whatever they want. If there's something in particular they want i won't buy it and tell them they can earn pocket money for it instead!

My son is 13 and all he has to do is keep his room clean and bring his washing down daily, hoover and polish his room on a saturday to get £10 pocket money. He also gets £1 a day to go to school (aside from dinner which gets put on a school card). So £15 a week and its a constant nag askinng for his washing and reminding him to clean
