It's worth looking at a thread that was posted, a few months ago, to get some tips that have been shared. Always good to start early.

Buy in sales look out in local boot sales and charity shops though out year that way you not coming to end of year and you can't afford it no need to buy expensive it's not about the price of gift at all pound land have some amazing stocking fillers for 25p bm have gifts reduced to a pound some stores may have Xmas pj's left at 10p always worth looking
Buy everything in the sales, yes. Start around Christmas. Buy for people even if you have stuff already, if it's a good price and it can be saved another year!
I'm lucky that I get a bonus in December so that covers most of it but I have similar issues in June as my MOT, car insurance and house insurance are all due at the the same time, and I inevitably need to pay out £100s for car maintenance. I set up a regular savings account with First Direct, it pays quite a good rate of interest but you can't easily withdraw money from it in the first year. It converts to a standard account after 1 year and you set up a new one. I pay £40 per month into it by standing order and have a bit of a nest egg to help with costs at that time of year.
For Christmas, I start buying gifts in November on Black Friday and keep an eye on deals so I know the kind of things that get big reductions and kind tend to only buy gifts that have big reductions.
I usually buy Christmas Cards from Paperchase in the sales then stick them in a drawer until the following year
I didn’t buy anything last Christmas, nobody complained so I’m going to do the same this year.
