What's Your Favourite Part of Christmas?
Ask a Question
What’s your favourite part of Christmas? Mines spending time with family and eating food and watching films.
It's only September can we keep these topics until December please. This year not many are going to enjoy it locked in no family around.
Ann1984 I’m sorry, I couldn’t help it. I know lockdown is currently happening and no one is getting much luck. But hopefully Christmas will be happening and it’s something to look forward to
sunny101 I totally agree with you! But apparently covid will be around for so many more years. Things will be so much different now.
Perhaps the most discussed topic on here after covid. x
However though, I like Christmas and have already started doing a bit of Christmas shopping. Always good to get it done early. I love the food also as well as the giving and receiving of gifts. x
jessicaburtonak but we can get used to it if around next hear pretty much everyone won't this year over and done with
RegularComper90 it’s always good to start early for Christmas! I’m like a hamster Christmas time with the amount of food I eat x
jessicaburtonak A bit off topic, but it's a shame to see that your covid topic just got taken down. It would have been interesting to see others' views. All because a couple of members took it the wrong way. x
RegularComper90 I know I’m really gutted! I like seeing what other people believe in and what people don’t. So sad that people get offended with stuff like that these days. x
RegularComper90 I'm usually on the same plateau as you but when someone suggests it's been exaggerated
RegularComper90 I still also look forward to Xmas. Unusually, haven’t done any shopping yet but will asap, as good bargains to be had out there
All my family comes from abroad to be together at Christmas time, it's usually the only time when we all get to sit in one room together. Probably won't happen this year which is a shame. But I love the entire Christmas atmosphere. Chill in the hair, Christmas lights, roast dinner, I love it all
Moonstone22 Awh I’m so sorry to hear that! Hopefully Christmas will still go ahead as usual. I LOVE Christmas lights! What’s your favourite part of the Christmas dinner? x
jessicaburtonak Hopefully, it would be a shame for Christmas to be a let down. I have been gathering things from the shops so if there will be another lockdown I will still have a supply of things to make Christmas still seem festive.
I went to a Raindeer centre last year with the little ones in my family and the whole place was lit up with Christmas lights, it was magical.
I love stuffing and pigs in blankets, it won't be a Christmas dinner for me without them. And I usually have lamb with minted gravy instead of turkey. I have turkey on boxing day and Christmas eve, there are a lot of roast dinners getting cooked in my house x
Moonstone22 that sounds so lovely!! Definitely the pigs In blankets for me too! They only taste nice around Christmas time x
jessicaburtonak They do fantastic pigs in blankets at pizza express around Christmas x
For me it's mainly the food. Over the last few years I've found the quality of the films being shown during the Christmas period hasn't been that great. It's mainly repeats of films that have already been shown a number of times during the year or classics that are shown every Christmas such as, It's a Wonderful Life
ACR I love Christmas films! Snuggling up and watching them. I must say my favourite is “Home Alone”
I forgot to mention that as a comper, something else I love about Christmas is all the advent calendar comps. x
I LOVE Christmas!! For me it starts on the 1st of December ... tree goes up, elf arrives from the North Pole and the festivities begin (oh and the advent calenders arrive - kids favourite bit!)
We spend the whole month watching Christmas movies, visiting Christmas fairs, playing Christmas music. It’s magical. We always visit Santa at the zoo with friends and have family meals.
May have to adapt plans a little this year ( no panto ) but it will still be magical
I think Christmas. is going to be a really tricky time for a lot of families this year. Whether you have lost love ones, your job, or your business, there will be a lot of people hurting and not really feeling it this year over the festive season.
I am not one to go overboard at this time of year and any celebration is muted in our house. When so many go without, it feels like a time of reflection for me, and I often feel deeply sad to hear of the overindulgence by many. I just cannot stomach it to be fair.
The real essence of this religious festival has been lost many years ago, and it has just become an excuse to splurge unnecessarily for many and putting pressure on families.
Xx
I think I prefer the run up to Christmas rather than the day itself.
Of course with less Christmas Markets this year, and shopping being a whole different experience, it's going to be a weird one.
I love buying and wrapping presents for my children and cooking the Christmas dinner just stay out of my kitchen when I'm doing it
Not discussing it in September time enough from December 1st of if you really must middle of November.
