Christmas Cake - Do You Like It?
Ask a Question
When I was a kid, I didn't like Christmas cake. Now I like it, especially with cheese. It's a Yorkshire thing. What about you, do you like it or is it too rich?
beccatavender I love Christmas cake, make it using an old family recipe and soak the fruit in alcohol for 7 - 10 days before mixing and add a grated potato. My daughter made the cake this year, best not to drive after having a slice!
I like the grated potato option ..... and soaking the fruit for so long too... can see it being really moist and flavoursome!
I honestly have never tasted one Christmas cake I’ve actually enjoyed. The taste is too unfamiliar and confusing to me.
I love Christmas cake. I’d have fruit cake over any sponge cake any day. I have my Nana’s recipe and soak the fruit in brandy. Gorgeous x
No i don’t eat fruit cake my Nana makes one every year and shares it between the three people in the whole family who actually eat fruit cake
I forgot to order a Christmas cake this year! I remembered everything else including cranberry sauce yet my husband has remarked a couple of times about NO CHRISTMAS CAKE and I politely offer him Waitrose mince pies served with cream. Not just any old cream but clotted cream, you thought I was going to say M&S.
Not had christmas cake this year but perhaps I'll spot one reduced in a few days. No doubt the shops will be clearing out a surplus of christmas food heavily discounted.
I've never had Christmas cake with cheese.... but I do love Christmas cake. I also now appreciate it more now im older
I thought it was weird when I first moved to Yorkshire, but it works with a nice piece of Wensleydale cheese
