Christmas Eve Boxes

We’ve done Christmas Eve presents for years before it became a trendy thing to do and we still do them for our teenagers.

They only get some new pyjamas some new slippers a dvd and home made biscuits.

Our eldest that is 21 still loves getting hers.

If you can afford to do it then great. Puts extra pressure on parents at a super expensive time. That box would have generally been my main Christmas gifts and not a pre-curser to the main event.

It's funny how we adopt so so many trends from overseas. I guess this originated from Germany when presents were traditionally opened on Christmas Eve. When I lived overseas, Christmas Day was not celebrated by many, only us Ex-Pats!

Ive had a selection box and new pjs on xmas eve aslong as i can remember and im nearly 32 We started doing xmas eve boxes a couple of years ago using the boxes from home bargains (about £2 each) but i am thinking about getting personalised wooden boxes this year. We put in new pjs, a selection box or some sweets, popcorn, crisps etc, a dvd, a mug with a sachet of hot chocolate. Then a few age appropriate things - my daughter will be 2 this year so she will have like a little cuddly toy, a special key to leave out for santa etc, my sons 13 so he will have like a little toy (rubix cube ir something) and a lynx spray.

It is a fairly new trend but I really like it. Make sure you get a copy of 'The night before Christmas' as this almost becomes a tradition for following years to be read on Christmas Eve. If you get a dvd make sure you get some healthy film-watching food too - doesn't have to be popcorn or chocolate but it will make the watching special.

Don't do them because Xmas is too expensive as it is if one of my kids say so and so has one i just tell them tuff hash I know but that's life never were around when I was young so I wouldn't start now either

Not Xmas eve, I always made up an arts and crafts box for my children to unwrap on boxing day, it kept the excitement going as well as keeping them occupied.

It's cheaper to buy them your self and fill the boxes with the things the kids will use

I don’t do them, I think I have enough traditions at Xmas and my daughter is 12 this time so it was too late when they got trendy round ppl I know. She gets knew pjs and stuff like that as presents so just means buying extra.

Don’t believe in these why pay out more for something someone made up and decided to do plus Christmas you only open gifts on the 25th not 24th

I make my own box,with pjs for xmas eve,sweets,hot chocolate and a book for bedtime

I love Xmas Eve boxes. I usually do pjs, fluffy socks, a cup, hot choc, marshmallows, a tube of sweets and a book or activity thing.

New pjs, Christmas mug, fluffy socks, hot chocolate, small game ,chocolate coins.
