Christmas Traditions, Strange or Funny Ones?

Other

So most people know the usual traditions. Carrot for Rudolph, turkey for dinner, decorating the tree. I want to know does anyone have any strange or funny traditions. Our family always have the boxing day buffet. No one wants to cook boxing day so my mum makes a buffet and we all go and eat. Also means we get to spend time as a family relaxed as Christmas day is usually spent in our respective homes seperately.

My husband loves a bottle of red wine, cheese, crackers and smoked salmon for dinner on Christmas Eve. When the kids were little I used to tuck them all up in bed with their stockings hung at the end of the bed and read them a pop up/pull out version of 'twas the night before Christmas'. They loved it then and I love the memories now ♥️

I love the night before Christmas book. My eldest two have outgrown bedtime stories but I think I'll buy it for my 2 year old this year for her Xmas eve box. Thanks for reminding me 😊

Janhrrs I can't wait for this year, she's 3 in March so is a great age, doesn't really understand it but will definately enjoy it. Can't wait for Santa's grotto with her this year 🙂

When I was a child my mum used to put sweets in cellophane and into our shoes on Christmas Eve and we were told that the Angel brought it to us. I was disappointed to found out that it was actually my mum!

not so much christmas but new years eve my dad would come home from pub at 11 30pm to bring the new year in with mum and us all he would run up stairs and grab money that he had saved up all year and at 12.00 he would chuck it all in the air and 5 kids scrambled for it while mum and dad hugged and watched love and miss them days

My sons and their families often find it difficult to get all of us together on Christmas day as we have lots of other family and in laws to consider. So, we have begun our own tradition of having a proper Christmas at my house one or two weekends before. We have the whole dinner thing, exchange presents and play games around the dinner table, the big one in conservatory as kitchen one is too small. It is nice to pretend we are sitting in the garden!
