Christmas Tree Recommendations

Ask a Question

This is the first year that we are buying a Chriatmas tree. We've never had one before now.

I have measured the space so I know a 6ft tree will be fine. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a specific tree or a place to buy one? I know about Asda, B&M etc but might be other places people have used.

I want a tree that is good value for money but also looks nice and bushy, not too sparce.

Budget wise I don't really want to spend more than £100, so I am willing to compromise on how bushy it is given my budget.

Any ideas?

Oh that's nice, a really good price too. Although we would be getting a green tree as my husband doesn't like the black/white/coloured ones that you get!

We got one from Argos years ago that has lots of separate branches of different sizes so you can sort of build the shape to suit the room and position then change it round the following year if you want. I'd definitely go for that type of tree again.

I will definitely have a look on Argos as I've still got some nectar points to spend.

If I was you and it’s going to be your first you won’t to see ones ready made up in store. This will help with not buying without seeing and not liking it. Another budget way is looking at second hand with people that change so often and buy new in sales. That way you can use second hand this year and save what’s left over for decorations

I've had a look on fb for 2nd hands one but they are too big or too small for the space, but I will keep looking.

The problem is lots of places don't put the Christmas trees out on display.

I got mine from Tesco about 10 years ago and it’s still as good as new. I don’t know if they still sell them though as I don’t see them on the website and haven’t seen them in store in my local either this year.

I’ve seen some great looking ones in Home Bargains this year though, and they have them set up too in my local so you can see how they’d fill the space and if they look too sparse or anything.

Our local home bargains isn't big enough for them to be on display but worth a look anyway.

I will have a look in Tesco next time I'm doing the food shop.

MrsCraig We got our from Wilko and this will be it's 6th Christmas. Does the job and quite bushy, looks good when decorated https://www.wilko.com/en-uk/wilko-5ft-scandinavian-fur-tree/p/0512417

The tree would be the same height as me, so would be easy to decorate the top! It does look like a nice tree.

My mum has a spare tree apparently but it's 8ft!!

MrsCraig Trim the bottom and cut the very thin bit at top, the fairy won't mind 🤣

lilyflower I would need to trim about 2 foot! Plus its far too wide for the space anyway

MrsCraig Measure 6ft from the top and cut the rest off (leaving enough for pot) you'll get rid of some of the width as well as height 🙂

lilyflower can you do that with artificial trees? Will it not affect how it fits into the base? I'm just going to buy one, when I find one I like!

If you live within a reasonable distance of ikea they are selling real trees for £25 and get a £20 voucher to spend in store in the new year.

Our nearest Ikea is 2 hours away, but my husband doesn't want a real tree anyway.

I usually find B&Q are pretty good and they generally have lots out on display so you can see them before you buy.

Had a look in B&Q but didn't like any of the ones in our price range unfortunately.

Have a nosy in b&q and homebase at the ones on display. Use it to get an idea which 'type' you like, as most with be replica of real trees, e.g. Douglas fir, etc. Then look for cheaper alternatives of that particular type of tree 🎄
