Christmas Wrapping?
Ask a Question
do you have a theme each year or coordinate gift tags etc? would love knowing i actually find it inspiring and love watching others wrap presents- odd as wrapping my own gifts stress me out!
I wish. By the time I get to wrapping things it's chaos and I've lost the sellotape dozens of times. I'm just happy to get them wrapped . I do look at other people's wonderful wrappings though and think next year.
I know I get really bad wrapping envy my mum could be a professional she spends a fortune bless her where quite frankly what I give her looks like I chewed it spat it out then let the dog wrap it..........
I'd love to have beautifully wrapped matching gifts. If i had time to do it over several days or weeks I would maybe have a go. But half of my gifts travel with me in Eurostar + TGV so if they're already wrapped they're a mess, the rest are shipped to France directly, so I use my mum's wrapping paper once I get there and have to wrap all the gifts in record time. Stressful.
hahahha MrsCraig I tried that and my family were outraged I was made to wrap them all again at my mums would be forgiven if I had a little one to care for though
OneeyedRaven as long as they get the presents our family doesn't care how it looks! I might just tell them I got my son to wrap them this year and that explains why they look awful!
I have a different wrapping paper for each child. That way they can't swap the tags ! all the presents are from us and they get one present each from santa under the tree wrapped specially with ribbon and bow.
I am thinking to not wrap this year....all of that paper just ends up in the bin....like rubbish ....also the gifts already packed in something.
well I am thinking the same but know I will have to wrap them as they get offended not opening them- we dont have many gifts to open. So I am thinking.....can I use newspaper?! wanted to use brown paper as looks fab but its so expensive
OneeyedRaven I got dolls to my daughter and they wrapped in plastic already....would be fun to paint them, so she could not see what is inside....all will end up in the bin
Using brown paper is a great alternative to classic wrapping paper and can be fun to decorate with paint/stamps/pens to personalise your gifts
I wrap all mine in brown paper and string as this can be recycled where as ordinary wrapping paper cannot be recycled and is wasteful and bad for the environment. This year i am going to use stamps or paint to decorate my wrapped gifts
oooh see my above comment where do you get your brown paper from is it quite cheap? Thank you xx
OneeyedRaven yeah it’s usually £1-2 a roll and you can get it in most places, Wilko, The Works, supermarkets etc
If I buy anyone a gift, I just give it them "as it is" and tell them I've saved them the trouble of unwrapping it. I like to be helpful.
I love the idea of making my own (adding stamps and personalised labels) but I don't feel its worth the effort and the cost, but i love looking at all the shiny bows and ribbon.
The only theme and co-ordinating I do is making sure that I use the same paper for the same person if they have multiple gifts, and different paper for different people. That just makes it visually easier for me though.
I do love wrapping gifts, but I hate the thought of wasting wrapping paper every time, as it’s unnecessary waste. I try to save old wrapping paper, or one year I just used newspaper with specific articles that relate to the individuals in one way or another
Last year I tried to be eco friendly and bought brown standard wrapping paper as this can go in the recycling bags. I decorated each gift with ribbons and bows. I hope to the same this year, I’m sure I’ve a large roll of paper somewhere but can’t remember where!
I do love to use one type of wrapping for all presents and I love putting the thin ribbon round and twirling the ends with the side of the scissors. Gift tags are usually trimmed from the previous years cards.
I have accumulated loads of decorations over the years so I have a different colour scheme every 2nd or 3rd year and do my wrapping in same colours i.e red/gold, blue/silver.
