Closing down Sale for Forever 21

They’re another retailer that is bowing out this year. Atm they are having closing down sales in their remaining stores
I was excited when they announced they were opening up in the uk a decade ago, but it was unfortunate they never lived up to the expectation, mainly as they had stiff competition they were unable to keep up with - I think I’ve only bought 2 things from them
Would you be sad to see them go?
they didnt do well at all. When they made their debut in Westfield, it looked good but they had slim offerings, although there were some decent stuff to start with. But it then all became tat
Wondered what was happening to the company as the one in amsterdam shut down and I go to the Rotterdam one instead
Wow I can’t believe they are going as well! I have been to the one in the Bullring a few times and found the pricing was always random numbers like £7.71 or £3.37, it never had .99 or .00 items!
Yes it was weird that they did that, and they usually just got a biro to mark the sale prices, which was very suspicious
The US parent has filed for Chapter 11 and most international stores are closing so this one isn't Brexit related although I guess if the stores were very profitable in the UK they wouldn't close. Another shop closing because of loss of sales to online retailers I guess which is an international problem.
The thing is they did sell their items online internationally, but I never liked using their site, and I didnt like a lot of the stuff they sold. Even when items were cheap, they were of cheap quality. They started out as a family business selling unique Korean fashion, but ended up selling mass produced tat that is already being sold by others at cheaper prices
hspexy I think that is the issue most shops have an online presence but if they have to pay for a lot of bricks and mortar stores they have to have high margins even for online sales and small online shops with a limited selection of goods don't compete with the huge online stores like Amazon and ebay with thousands of items to choose from.
I didn't realise this, I have found some really great things in Forever 21 but the last time I went in there I hardly found a thing - it may just be that I've got older and don't really suit a lot of their stuff anymore though! lol
Lol I think you’re right. I do think they changed and have deliberately decided to target a younger audience, but it failed
