Coffee Bags - Any Good?

Ask a Question

Apparently coffee bags are the trendy thing. Who knew?

Has anyone bought these strange inventions? Can you reuse them like you would the humble teabag?

Are they the best thing since sliced bread?! 🤣

Not sure about coffee bags hence the questions. If you’ve tried them, do you prefer them to normal coffee from a jar? Image

I've been using them for a few years and they're good - Taylors make a quality Italian coffee bag and Sainsburys Columbian Coffee, little suspension bags. You should try them.

sunny101 tempted to buy them but wondered if you could get more than one cuppa out of one bag?

HappyTravels Sadly not! They make a really good cup of coffee and they are convenient if a little expensive. It just depends on if you really enjoy an aromatic cup.

I've tried them and thought they were pretty decent. If you want the ground coffee taste without a machine give them a go. Obviously they are expensive compared to instant coffee granules.

... so I'm assuming you throw them away after each use? .... in which case I'd imagine they're actually expensive per use...and (back on my soapbox)..... something else to fill landfill/cause environmental problems??? If they are fully compostable and economical, then ok but I bet they're not.

They make a good cup of coffee and I find them useful for holidays but are expensive and not as good for the environment as normal ground coffee.

I’ve tried it a few times in the past. Tbh I’m not a big coffee drinker, so I’ll stick to instant if needed

All I can tell you is that it won't catch on in my house. I had heard about these a while ago, isn't it just a marketing gimmick? Image

I don’t drink coffee but hubby does. Bought coffee bags for him, he said they are good but use them if going in car journeys (I have tea and he has coffee) and fill just the one thermos with hot water.

I won a box of coffee bags a few years ago and gave them to my husband to take into work. His colleagues liked them, they work just like tea bags.

I've never actually bought them though as I think they are expensive.

that's what my thoughts are too .... and I guess they'll make em while we buy them ... (well ...not me .... I'll stick with a teaspoon).

If you intend to compost these coffee pods after use, ensure you split the bags (and most tea bags) emptying the contents. As they contain plastic (bags) which isn't recyclable 😊

Mr T drinks a lot of coffee so we thought we would buy a coffee machine giving us coffee on tap all day but we have found that the new machines turn themselves off after about 40 minutes! How weird is that? Why would anyone want a machine that didn't keep the coffee hot? Apparently it's a safety feature, but one that defies logic to me.... Image
