Do you like comments on this or other sites? If yes why is that?

For me liking means yes I have seen your comment.

Hmmm pretty much the same reason I like to notify people yes I have read it because otherwise its ignoring and bad manners.

I do like comments on all social media sides so as LD. I think it's a nice gesture so people know they have been read.

What about comments you dislike or don't agree with? I always assumed like was to show someone you agreed with them or liked what they had to say.

Lynibis a very good question I was thinking the same although YouTube has the facility to show your dislikeness.

Whilst I generally do "like" someone's comments who I am having a chat with, if we were having some sort of a disagreement on something, then I wouldn't "like" them.

Anam Surprisingly (it has been shown) on YouTube a "thumbs down" helps the uploader because it shows interaction on the video*, getting the video better promotion. Personally I rarely use the "thumbs down" I do tend to "LIKE" (thumbs up) much more.

*As far as advertisers are concerned it doesn't matter whether videos are liked or disliked as long as people are exposed to their advert,

Yes I like comments for the same reason as others have said on this post. If I don't agree or dislike their comments I won't press the like button

I like comments if i think they give good information or if i agree with what the person has posted. Facebook is good for the different emojis so you can like, love, laugh etc.

I "like" the comments from someone who is talking to me, just to show that person that I have seen and read the comment. I also "like" comments which interest me or ones that I agree with.

RegularComper90 On this site although it's not indicated who has liked a comment, one can often guess when notified of a reply and like at the same time ☺

davidstockport Yes, that is true. 🙂

I can confirm however, that it was indeed me who "liked" your comment.

KijManhas Thanks but 20 points are only awarded if three people like a comment. And I don't post for points. So I ask others NOT TO give this post another like. (I now realise yours was the third)

A very unusual thing happened yesterday I was awarded twenty points FIVE TIMES (never happened before to me) I thank those who showed their support - it was appreciated.

I noticed as I liked your comment (because I liked it) that it was the third like, I do appeal to others not to use the likes just for the sake of points.

I like all of the comments on the threads that I create on LD, I think it's a nice gesture so that users know that I've read their comment.
