I Had A Comp From Another Magazine Taken Off As A Duplicate But How Can It Work?

Ask a Question

Thank you for your competition - Win A Β£50 'Not On The High Street' Voucher. Unfortunately, it looks like you were pipped to the post this time as someone had already shared it. To avoid duplicates, we work on a first-come, first-serve basis. Alternatively, it may be because it was not unique. If you find something that has multiple colours, flavours or varieties - but all under the same offer - please only post it once. You can combine all the various options under the same post. If you have any questions, please contact us. We're looking forward to your next post!

I could be wrong but I believe I started the trend of changing pictures for the same Comps on different magazines with Amazon photos and Mrmac followed and then others started doing the same, I posted this Comp out Mother & Baby but with another picture but now it's been taken off, so now I have reported a Comp that is the same but from 2 different magazines and with different pictures and different headings to see if my report is sent back as right or wrong out of interest, my point being, won't an awful lot of Comps be rejected now and won't it be harder to post Comps when it was hard anyway with some wanting to be 'post it champion'? How can duplicate comps show up when they are changed by the poster to not look identical? I cut down and nearly gave up but came back restricting myself but if it's going to be harder then I might as well just give up!

I have also noticed that some particular people are changing the image when posting comps and I think this is done to confuse and to ensure that their post stays in place when it is clearly a duplicate. A certain person also posts the same comp again from time to time! 'Post it champion' is an apt description. It seems totally indiscriminate - I tend to remember the comps I post and also those I enter (mind you I do keep a spreadsheet of those entered - I need to get a life!).

It is a shame because, as you say, there are less comps around at the moment so they are potentially preventing others gaining the daily points.

I would monitor your situation and see what transpires. Hold you head high and don't give up JoTarpley πŸ’ 🐞

Well to explain my side tumblespots, I originally changed the pictures they used in magazine Comps for 'Win Amazon Vouchers' to Amazon Gift Card ones just because I thought the mag ones that were used were rubbish but I noticed soon after others were following, and when I put a picture in where there wasn't one that described the prize then others did the same, although, I'll never know what reasons they had! My intentions were meant to help but what I reported last night, and has been accepted, was the same Comp but 2 absolutely different pictures which, to be honest, I wouldn't have spotted myself and it was only because I actually checked a couple of times, changing the header of the Comp, that it came up as I had intended to post it myself!!

Thank you very much for your encouragement and kind words tumblespots , it means a lot!! 😘 πŸ’ x

Why do you think iits To confuse ? I take it your talking about Baur competitions. If you research you'll find they have about 40 publications.

I'd say that's enough to go round. As I said above there is no need to try to confuse as is alleged. Its within the rules so why would anyone need to go to the trouble of trying to fool people lol it doesn't make sense

I don't think you are up to date Mrmac I don't know if you realise but the posting rules have changed now, I don't know how many publications there are but say there ARE 40, competitions out those 40 magazines CAN'T now be posted 40 times, 1 out each publication as it was before, they can be posted ONCE, out of ALL publications as they are now going to be classed as duplicates and taken off and points lost, so if you are intent on carrying on trying to get to each comp first yourself then you will be posting every comp out of every magazine and ruining it for other people who are trying hard to earn their daily allowance of points. I have tried to explain this calmly and as nicely as I can so please don't get angry with me too! x

JoTarpley Have I read you right, that all magazines owned by Bauer, or any other publisher will only be counted as ONE competition?

lilyflower That is what I've been lead to believe, that's why I originally posted this, didn't you actually read it, I can't go through it all again but I had a comp taken off because the same comp had been posted from another magazine so mine was a duplicate, to make sure, I reported a comp that was the same but had been posted from 2 different magazines and I got the 5 points for reporting a duplicate, depressing isn't it?! x

JoTarpley I did read it, just checking that was what you meant. It will certainly reduce the number of comps posted - we'll have to be even quicker to post πŸ˜€

JoTarpley I am. I do. Just I posted same comp from different mags and no one said anything, a lucky escape πŸ™‚ This comment looks totally stupid now because what I was responding to by JoTarpley has been taken down. She said I was a silly billy in different words - no offence was taken.

I am not aware of any recent changes, competitions from different magazines seems to be allowed...

Contact LD Team directly and they should bring it back. Mentors do make mistakes sometimes...

BTW, our favorite 'post it champion' has finally spoken up: https://www.latestdeals.co.uk/competitions/win-2-night-stay-lewtrenchard-manor-worth-500-thetouristtrail

Basically we should do our own research and find the answers to the comps he's posting in a hurry πŸ˜‚

I just nipped over to look sunshinemum 😱 I couldn't believe it!! That can't be right surely, what's the point of posting comps with no answer, we might as well do away with the comps section here and do it all ourselves in that case!!

What I reported last night has been accepted so this is obviously the new way, oh dear!!! x

I haven't been on the comps section for a few days, so hadn't noticed this was going on. Just popped over for a look and can't believe how rude that response to a simple question is!

JoTarpley That's my thought too, the worst one I saw so far was a link to an online crossword that you have to complete and submit, posted by Mrmac of course and no solution provided...

As for the Bauer competitions, would make more sense to post them individually since there are so many of them, and by people who do it properly... Mrmac always sets them as one entry competitions instead of daily entries...

RegularComper90 😱 I did have this weird feeling something wasn't quite right but OMG it's very very sad if it's true, if you are desperate to have an alias for a website you are already spending half your life on then I think you've got a serious problem and you need help πŸ˜… πŸ˜‚ 🀣 !!! x

sunshinemum Yes I saw that one and stared at it in disbelief for a couple of minutes and then realised he was having a laugh at our expense! Maybe if he'd done it for a joke for April 1st it might have been slightly amusing but to actually post it in all seriousness is just taking the ****!! πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‚ x

What's the situation if a prolific competition poster is simply using another competition listing site to constantly find things to post here? Is that something that LD are happy to allow?

Hello everyone, thank you for your messages. To clarify, we recently updated our guidelines for competitions:

  • If multiple websites/companies are running the same competition please only share it once unless the terms and conditions explicitly state that you can enter multiple times from each website/company.

In the case of a big publisher, if they have one competition published across many websites, and the terms of the competition state that you can only enter once, or that only one entry will be counted, we ask that it only be listed once on Latest Deals, with all the alternative places you can enter it listed in the description.

We made this change following extensive member feedback that it didn't make sense to list multiple competitions for the same prize, if only one entrant counted. Rather, they should be listed together into one post.

I hope this makes sense.

If a publisher has lots of competitions across its magazines, of course you can post Prize A from Bla Bla, Prize B from Cha Cha, and Price C from Da Da.

Hi JoTarpley

I will try to track it down on your profile, probably it was a mistake if you are talking about a Bauer Magazine from http://www.winsomething.co.uk

As far as I know, they allow multiple entries, and it would be impossible to manually control more than 40 different publications.

JoTarpley I meant that your post was removed as a duplicate by mistake. All the reports are checked manually and mistakes can happen sometimes.

Cheers
