Companies That Charge £1 or More for C&C

Ask a Question

I get why they charge for delivery, but C&C? The customer picks it up him/herself and the item is paid for, so why charge for C&C at all?

A member of staff has to go round and 'do' the shopping for you so that must cost the shop some money but you would think they could absorb that really.

I think they should have two tier click and collect, those items that are in stock at the store and just need to be reserved for the customer should have free click and collect and those items that have to be specially dispatched from a warehouse outside normal deliveries could have a charge. I remember picking up a wilkinsons click and collect order and it was all boxed up as if posted but the same item was on the shelves and it just seemed really stupid. Surely they would be more profitable just to put one from stock aside for me and this was back when click and collect was free so they had to absorb the cost of packaging that item and getting it delivered to the store specially. I guess if they don't have great stock level information this could go horribly wrong though so perhaps Wilkinsons don't manage stock control very well.

People who fall for this in no uncertain terms needs to see a doctor (if that's humanly possible).

I get people are busy or its more for a convenient way of shopping. Would you at the end of your shop on your receipt you notice ia charge for a £1 . You go to customer services and say what's this£1 charge and they said well you came here so we charge an entry fee of £1 . If you are normal you would be furious and the company will be heading to the bankruptcy court.

I feel this is 1 company testing the waters and if there's uproar which I can't see how there couldn't be and people refuse to shop there and if people don't kick off other companies will then follow suit.

I used to frequently do click and collect at the works. So I didn't get disappointed by what I wanted not being in stock but now you have to pay I simply don't buy the item

These little things eventually push customers ever so more towards Amazon. If Amazon makes Prime (for deliveries only) cheaper (they have £7.99/mo but you're better off paying £70/yr instead, then) then they'll attract even more consumers.

One of the reasons I don't use boots much as anything under £15 you have to pay to click and collect which is just bollocks.

We used to do c&c from wilko to get the Topcashback bonuses and would just buy things like toilet roll. They have to be packed and stored and staff have to leave tills to find them. I can fully understand why they now charge.

I very rarely do click and collect. I used to do click and collect for Tesco when my son was little and at the height of the pandemic but I always picked the cheapest option. The only other click and collect I do is if I've bought clothes online from Asda as it's free so I don't have to pay for delivery.

I use click & collect if its free, I won't order if you have to pay for click & collect. I'm using my petrol to get there so why should I pay? I stick to George Asda & matalan for C&C but what's the bet they eventually bring in the 'free C&C on orders over ££'... rule. 😔

It’s annoying, as with delivery charges, which are only free if you spend over a certain amount. As a friend once told me, just buy something to get your free c&c/delivery, and then get a refund on it after (and you’ll get the refund quicker if you have to visit the store)
