Do Companies Still Give On-Site Kitchen Design Advice ?
Ask a Question
Over 40 odd years, we have always done everything ourselves. Now we are looking to install a new kitchen but everywhere seems to do only on-line design. I'd prefer someone (allowing for social distancing etc), to come and actually look at our space and chat us through the ideas. I can't find anywhere that does it the 'old fashioned way'. We're hoping to preferably get it planned out with help, buy the flatpack range for us to put together and then pay for the actual installation-so not all D.I.Y. has ended!
We used Wickes a few years ago and they did come to the house to measure up. Initially she said she couldn’t get us anything within our budget but then she worked her magic and we got our dream kitchen!
snoogans888 Hey terrific thanks! I just clicked thro your link and there is a WICKES up here in Scotland .... in Inverness ...a bit of a way but I know inverness often deliver to our area so am going to get in touch and see if Wickes will cover our area too. Really do appreciate it!
BORDERJOE oh you’re welcome! Fingers crossed they can help you out and you get a new kitchen!
Another tip is if you have any parts that you haven’t used, Wickes will take them back and refund you. I’m not sure if all kitchen suppliers offer this but worth checking. We fitted the kitchen ourselves but if you have the pros do it then keep an eye on any unopened boxes as they might just take them away without you knowing!
snoogans888 thanks again! That's interesting cos we were thinking or erecting the flatpacks and then paying for them to be fitted in situ! ....Not as strong as we were and I'm short so struggle supporting stuff!
Hi, not sure if you’re still looking for kitchen design but I got this emailed to me today from The Range as they’re offering £500 voucher if you get a kitchen from these guys. They have stores in Scotland xx
snoogans888 ... thanks so much ...yes we're still looking cos I want to be sure we make the right decision! I'll have a look at the link ...I really appreciate you remembering my question!
BORDERJOE you’re welcome! Picking the right kitchen definitely takes time. But best advice I can give is make sure you have enough plug sockets put in!
snoogans888 we're off for a day out to check out THE RANGE and also WRENS kitchens ... and a lunch out treat! ..... I have a husband who's obsessed with extra sockets ....thanks ...you're right and it'll make him smile cos when we did our last one ourselves I kept saying 'why, why, why?' ..... he was right tho.
BORDERJOE aaah enjoy your day out, sounds like great fun! Oh we can’t let our other halves know they’re right too often but yeah let him have this one
FG280 oh yes I was going to mention usb ones but then I forgot to update my message!
snoogans888 well we're off to check some out tomorrow ...so fingers crossed ...it's a bit of a jaunt but will be worth doing. I'll report back.
FG280 thanks again ... just returned from a full day out cos of travel - to WREN kitchens .... brilliant displays but no idea of prices ... we have loads of ideas tho. Have booked home visit-free. Next is an overnight trip to check out The Range and IKEA .... the joys of no car and distant cities ....but it's all part of the fun I guess! I'm glad that at least some stuff can be got decent and cheaply!
BORDERJOE we got ours in ikea in the end. I am really happy with it. It definitely does have great storage solutions and ideas. e.g. we have 'hidden' drawers, meaning that deep drawers are maximised instead of everything on top of each other.
We also decided to go with mostly drawers and no cupboards. Game changer in my opinion! I now have all my glasses, cups, plates, pots, etc in drawers. So handy, as nothing gets pushed to the back and forgotten about!
Enjoy your overnight stay - a great excuse to get away from it all, while being productive too!
FG280 I'm really glad you recommend IKEA ... that was out last one too and we'd had it almost 20 years when we moved ...it's just so far to get to now but I think the overnighter will probably pay for itself ....Free if lengthy bus trip, Premier Inn £30 or so and my deals for food ... and as you say ...a good excuse!!!!
