Coronavirus and Celebrating Mothers Day Later?

Ask a Question

My daughter’s friend might have the virus. He’s young and hopefully will recover but my daughter spent last Sunday with him. I’m in the vulnerable Governments group and have been indoors all week so would love to see her but feel it’s not fair for her to travel on public transport and be in contact with others. Am I being overly cautious?

No I don't think you are....for both your sakes. Who knows who has been on the public transport carrying the virus and leaving it on seats, handles etc. This is how it is spread and it is irresponsible for folk to mingle at this stage. Even in her own car it could be brought in to your home as she could act as a conduit between you and the young man.

I have not seen my sons or grandchildren for about 2/3 weeks as I refuse to risk their health as I have not yet been stood down from my job working with children.

In the meantime we send each other funny jokes on WhatsApp, speak on telephone etc and I look forward to seeing them all again one day, no matter how long it takes.

We will come through this and my hope is that we will be kinder, more caring and have a far greater respect for mother earth.

No one should go out if it is not for something essential...

And if it was 7 days ago and u have no symptoms, you will be not sick but may have the virus and u can infect...Take care

Thank you for making the time to reply.

Yes, I told her that she could be a carrier and think of the others traveling on public transport.

"Your daughter's friend might have the virus". So might any other person you see, even if they have tested negative, they might have contacted it since. It is in everyone's best interest to avoid physical proximity to all other people UNLESS ESSENTIAL. That is the only way this can be brought under control.

Sorry if this sounds negative or scaremongering but I feel if stricter measures had been implemented earlier things wouldn't have escalated to the level they're at.

People have tried to carry on in their daily lives which has had such an impact on spreading the virus. We all need to be isolating but that has proven too difficult for some. Take care everyone.

Pjran I think the complacency shown by many who themselves are not likely to be affected badly by the virus has been disgusting, here's something that might cause them concern, if they read it, they might not be affected badly by the virus but might be very badly affected if they, or their children, need medical treatment for any other condition, and that treatment is no longer readily available because medical resources have been used up coping with the virus. I think few, including the media, have really thought about the knock on effects.

It would be interesting, if such information was available, to know if there has already been an increase in deaths from "say heart-attacks" because the care staff and facilities are too stretched to cope with what before wouldn't have been fatal.
