Coronavirus Scams

In the News

https://www.which.co.uk/news/2020/03/coronavirus-scams-how-to-spot-them-and-stop-them/

As of Friday 20 March, City of London Police reported a 400% increase in scams as a result of coronavirus-related fraud.

I have not experienced this myself yet, but it‘s only a matter of time. Even the text I got today from the government - I would never click on a link sent this way

Be careful, stay safe

Yeah i mentioned it in another thread.

Much as the pc brigade will not like my reply AS USUAL even though its true...

But if you hear an Indian/Pakistani voice on the end of the line hang up the only time you should hear one in the UK is when YOU phone a call centre from a legit website like Virgin Media or Talktalk.

I work in IT security and virtually all the scams come from India there was a documentary on it last week especially the recent coronavirus ones and microsoft "something is wrong with your pc" scams!

There was a documentary I watched from Singapore where they revealed the regions of most scams based on investigations, and most were from the areas you’ve mentioned, as well as in SE Asia, usually people trafficked to bunker like properties (make shift call centres) to spend all day calling people to get lucky. I occasionally get calls like these...and they rarely call again

hspexy Yeah i know i was out in India we busted a load of people in the call centres but we never got the bosses just the small fry the big bossesd always get away with it - you cannot really blame them they get paid buttons then some guy comes and offers you £100 for a day to put a hatcam on and record all the credit card info thats how they were doing it a simple spycam sewn inside a baseball cap filiming everything on their screens every day.

Then we had the lebanese lift - thats what the cashpoint fraud is actually called named after the folks who started it - we have imported all the worst criminals from the third world and eastern europe i am sad to say but the pc brigade dont like hearing the truth but maybe now they will listen but it may be too late!

Bilking gangs, credit card fraud, carousel fraud , crash for cash scams its all perpetated by a certain community but we cant say the truth in the UK even though you see it every dayu in programmes like Bailiffs are coming, cant pay take it away and numerous other reality tv programmes - I was with Glasgow CID incidentally so i saw it all and more!

My friends in Slovakia have a joke they laugh every time i am out there they say UK people are great they have taken all their "problem people" so crime has gone down 50% in Slovakia - just google LUNIK IX and you will see where they all come from but the Slovaks were made to feel ashamed by the european union and now they have been proven right!
