Covid Jab the Kids ?
Ask a Question
Just wondered now 12-15 year olds can have a single jab what are parents thinking about this x I’m a nurse my kids are older Early 20s they’ve had just but wonder what parents are thinking
If she were old enough and could demonstrate an intelligent understanding of the risks v advantages of the jab to a clinician she could have the jab regardless of a parent's wishes .
This has obviously been introduced to address the "vaccine hesitancy " apparent in a few areas .
I don't know if that is just because you wouldn't give consent even if she was 12, it might help people to know that a child over 12 (past the age of 11) can overrule their parent's refusal to give consent:
"Vaccines minister Nadhim Zahawi said parental consent will be needed for vaccinations of 12 to 15-year-olds, but children can overrule parents who do not want them to get the jab but will only be able to do so following a meeting with a clinician".
Golfforall and why do you think they have put into children's hand because parents won't allow it
Leannexxx Not into children's hands (only after the child consults with a clinician who knows their medical history etc ) . Why? Because too many parents are getting this very important info from Social Media "influencers " and the like and believing it .
Of course if there are any medical reasons for these kids not to get the jab then obviously they will not have the option of over ruling their parents .
However if the child is intelligent , understands the pros and cons but has a parent with a different view then it is only fair that they can have their view ?
Of course it works both ways , a child (after consultation ) can equally refuse the vaccine even if their parents wish them to have it .
Golfforall believe it or not people can have there own thoughts on things and it has nothing to do with social media put it this way no child in my family will be getting this vaccine thats my nephews and nieces
Leannexxx It may be your view (for whatever reasons ) perhaps that is why the children of age in your wider family will have their own choice . Maybe over time you may wish to have a serious conversation with your GP ?
Views change , especially as the data re Risk /reward becomes overpowering ? Not my place to convince you , but surely your place to at least keep an open mind ?
Golfforall already spoken to my gp and he told me it's my choice because some of the doctors are not getting it either
Leannexxx Your choice of course , but please keep an open mind and go with the data as it evolves . I very much doubt if many Doctors have refused the jab ( apart from for medical reasons ) as they will be required to have it . Maybe you should speak to another GP ?
Golfforall no I'm not it's shouldn't be forced upon people people are being told they will lose there job if they don't get the vaccine but no one had a issue when they was working when this all started
Leannexxx If you won't even keep an open mind and take note of the evidence as it evolves then I'm afraid we have to agree to disagree
Golfforall this hasn’t just been introduced for covid. It was a Law Lords ruling some years ago.
Am in fence with this one if the jab is so successful then why most the people in hospital double jabbed
I think you will find that is because 83% of the population are double jabbed ( so there are bound to be more ). If you saw the slides yesterday for those in intensive care (due to COVID ) it told a completely different story 4 to 8 times as many unvaccinated in deep trouble (depending on age group ) . Quite a startling slide I thought .
Leannexxx I have a friend who is on a covid ward and the 4 hospitals near are full with over 10 in icu I asked what age bracket it is and a handful of under 40s rest over 60. My husband refuses jab I have had it.
This can’t be up to a child just like any vaccination a child has even in high school Ned parental consent
Same as Anne1984,they are saying 1 vaccine for children...just wondering if they will need boosters too,the data seems to change all the time.No real clarity and yet to hear the benefits of vaccinating children.
The 1 jab science is because children have a much more active immune system . That is they readily produce more and longer lasting antibodies than an older person .
Most of the science so far comes from Israel who have vaccinated the vast majority of their children . Most other countries (like ours ) are just starting the programme .
I can completely understand a parent not wanting to risk their children long term health by getting this vaccine I’m double jabbed and in most cases believe in vaccines 100% but this somehow feels wrong
Knew this was coming. They want everyone vaxxed and they're getting desperate when there are those that refuse it.
Australia/NZ is a mess right now. France isn't far off from thar tyranny, and the rest of Western countries.
Stalin Joe is trying to get federal workers and companies with more than 100 employees to have them all vaxxed. Screw human rights and their health, right?
My brother is a senior pharmaceutical scientist. When I was talking to him about it he said the only kids that would really benefit is children who are in the at risk category. So children who have underlying health conditions where covid would likely cause severe symptoms or possibly death.
SarahPrice this was explained in the briefing. They are also including the reduction in disruption to education and the associated improvement in mental health.
I am not a parent myself, but I do understand why many parents are hesitant about vaccinating their kids.
I personally think that vulnerable kids should be offered the vaccine as well as those kids with vulnerable family members. Otherwise, I don't think they need it.
I would not give this to my children, as I can't be sure that it will not affect their health in future.
Iv had the vaccine but I will not be allowing my son to have it. He’s 10 so not quite old enough but even so he will not be having
