It isn't always the sellers trying to make a big profit more often a case of the sellers being out of stock and rather than remove the advert and have to pay to relist when the product is back in stock they put a price that no-one in their right mind is willing to pay, they can then reduce the price when item is back in stock.

davidstockport Government need to fix the prices....this money goes to the seller....and the seller is Always and they belong to P&G.

Also Amazon put lots of their staff only available on Fresh and u can not book a slot to order...things just do not make sense to me.

AgnesFaludi Price fixing finished years ago - I was pointing out that the prices advertised on many of these things are only to save the seller money, I suspect if anyone was stupid enough to buy at the "put off prices" those are prices purposely advertised to "put off" people from purchasing they would be informed that the item was out of stock and if they'd got as far as actually paying their money would be returned. I wasn't aware of this way of not having to pay to relist items that had previously sold out until a few years ago. It's permissible for the seller to alter the price without paying but to relist (after a sell-out) costs them. So no money when this happens goes to the seller. Hope that explains.

My local Spar down the bottom of the road has started adding 50p-£1.00 on most items. My partner told the shop owner that people will remember this and hopefully avoid using them when things are back to normal. At the end of the day these are the people still earning money as they are allowed to keep their shops open!

Yes, I know.....everything got more expensive...I fear to go out with 2 kids, so ordering most of the things we need from Amazon and some of the prices are gone too high there.

eBay has been one of the worst, although I don’t believe people are really going to pay 50k for toilet roll. They’re just having fun while being stuck indoors

I think it should change Amazon eBay should not allow sellers list items that are 3 or 4 times over normal retail price.
