Daith Piercings - Do They Work?
Ask a Question
A Daith piercing is an ear piercing that passes through the ear's innermost cartilage fold, the crus of the helix. It’s believed to relieve suffering of migraines, or tension headaches. Do you have one? If so, do you recommend it?
My daughter suffers from really bad migraines, when she gets them she goes numb down one side, was sick as a dog and couldn’t even speak. One time at work she even collapsed as her legs went out from under her. She has had acupuncture all sorts of pills and nothing worked. They were so bad she couldn’t even look after her son and her other half had to come home from work. She got the piercing and she still gets a migraine now and again but nothing like what she had before. She used to get them 2 or 3 times a month and now maybe once or twice in the last year. So it has definitely helped her. I took her to a chiropractor and she said it was all coming from the alignment in her neck. She said she might be able to help but there was no guarantee and it would be a long haul of appointments that would be on going for years at £60 a pop. I was willing to pay for her to be seen but a 3 hr round journey wasn’t very practical when she had a baby, especially with no guarantee it would actually help. After that she heard about the piercing and thought she would give it a go.
Thanks for sharing your daughter’s experience. Sounds like she had to go through a lot of pain, it’s so awful when it’s that debilitating. I’m glad the piercing seems to have brought some relief. The cost of the daith piercing is so small, and it’s to an area that seems insignificant and won’t be damaged by it, it certainly sounds like it’s worth trying
I had it done a couple of years ago and I don't feel that it has significantly improved my migraines, but it looks cool anyway!
