Damaged Curly Hair

Ask a Question

I have seriously damaged my hair through bleaching and severe straightening. It has meant i have lost my natural ringlets. I have cut a large portion of my hair off. just wondering if any one has any tips or advice or products they have used which may help?

many thanks in advance

Umberto Giannini Coily Curls product is amazing, might also be worth you trying the curly girl method for a while until the damage grows out. Try to learn to love the curls, I've only just started to like mine after nearly 5 decades, but mine is more a frizz than a curl without product

LaurenCook we have all done it. At least with curly hair you have the option to straighten without too many chemicals, I tie mine up in a tight ponytail when it is wet now and that straightens it when I take it out for a day. Show me a woman happy with what she has got lol

LaurenCook wow, you're hair is gorgeous, quite jealous (in a friendly way). I have only recently been getting their products, didn't expect them to be cruelty free and vegan, so as soon as I found out I bought all the Grow Locks range to start with (gorgeous coffee scent to it) and was really impressed. I registered on their site and they send quite a few offers out, so if you haven't registered I would recommend it. I bought directly from them and it was so quick. Really pleased it is working for you and thank you for letting me know

LaurenCook yeah, sorry forgot to tell you, I own the company lol. When I find a good company with products that work I tell people, if I didn't think they were good I would keep quiet (rare for me at the best of times). Hope you got the 20% off for signing up. Just looked at their offers and there are some new ones so looks like I will be spending some pennies in a bit

Some very heavy coconut oil masks can help...

Up until i was around 30 my hair was a little bit wavy but since then (I am now 48) it has been an absolute ball of frizz ! I stopped using dye on it in an attempt to sort it out but now it just looks like a ball of tangled grey wool !!! I’m going to try some of the things people have advised on here. I’d love to have beautiful hair !!!

I would invest in a good nourishing hair mask and use it as much as possible.. the new Garnier tubs (think they are called Hair Food) that look like ice cream pots are amazing and they smell divine.. lots of hair treatments and no heat, styling or dying / bleaching for a while, it will take time to heal, there’s no quick fix for severely damaged hair..

I actually went and had a treatment at a hairdressers (i cant remember what it was) and it didnt help. then i was using Osmo Deep Moisture Intensive Deep Repair Mask (left it on my hair for 3 days- mega greasy) no effect.

i might see if i can find these garnier tubs! i have just purchased Umberto Giannini Coily Curls

no i will not be using or doing anything. i have recently cut out most of the bleach... hoping when it is is all gone it will feel and look better

Girl you need to use a coconut hair mask 3 times a week, this will help a lot.
