David Attenborough: Extinction
Other
Anyone watch it? To summarise: Large animals becoming extinct at an alarming rate (graph shown) due to deforestation. This means smaller animals are not being preyed on and population booming. And in turn smaller animals spreading out and causing ......yes you got it.....pandemics, which are likely to be a regular feature of our future on earth.
But not only small animals, human beings are increasing at an alarming rate so it seems to me this is nature's way of cutting us down to size.
'Save the environment' everyone shouts, stop driving gas guzzlers, eat less meat, use less energy, ban plastic and so on. All well and good but no one is brave enough to tell us to do the one thing that can save the planet.........have less children!
The world's population has doubled in the last 50 years, so how long before it doubles again, and again, and again. Standing room only and no resources left for our grandchildren. Why are world governments not encouraging people to have less children before it gets to a stage of forcing the issue? Yes it's a human right but rights carry responsibility and no one needs loads of kids. This disaster is of our own making and the solution is in our hands because with less people there will be less gas guzzling, less meat eaten, less plastic and energy used.
Why are we ignoring the obvious solution?????
I love these programes have it recorded to watch when have hour peace. Yes i agree to many people having more and more children, whice is why we have said no more and if accident happened it would sadly be abortion.
I may have mentioned on here before that one of the kids we transport has 30 siblings, not all from same mother though! Nearly all the kids in care we transport have 4+ siblings even though they go straight into care at birth. It is not unusual to have 8, 9 or 10 per family but they couldn't care less as the state (and you and me) are paying to raise them.
Contraception should be freely available to all, even encouraged as too many parents bring children into a life of abuse and poverty.
Lynibis yeah think you had mentioned. Am on contraception but caught twice so have changed to injection. So wrong people having kids thinking we just going to be happy having higher taxes for them. I know people don’t believe in it but no good bringing kids up no money no life going from piler to post because of parents wrong doings.

This is showing at cinemas later this month
It was such a brilliant programme, eye opening, shocking and has definitely made me think about the future, choices on what I buy and got me reading up on what countries are doing to act on climate change.
I would reckon greed is the answer why we haven't made any changes.
We have the solar power, wind and water power yet we still rely on fossil fuels. Why hasn't there been more investment in renewable fuels because we could get to a point where we don't need gas, oil or coal and how would the mega mega rich cope?
All plastic should be reusable but again that would cost money and it doesn't help when you have orange gob across the pond on about McDonalds bringing back plastic straws.
The stupid benefit system has encouraged more people to have kids knowing they will get a load of money of the government.
If the top 10 companies in the world actually made the effort to change then they would make more a difference than me and you could make in our lifetime.
Am watching spy in the wild are the animals with cameras real because the monkey one is a fantastic fake if are
EDIT
OK am thick the bird got me they fake. Time to close my eyes
David has probably done more for the world in terms of the environment than any other person. Brighton Rock lol.
